How come no one from PGI has made comment on here regarding the article or defended them even?

What do you mean no one? I can count three staff writers on this thread.

They might have more of an insight into what the Gardners had in mind? Or is this a classic case of a magazine (on a tight budget) not wishing to offend one of its advertisers ( 3 pages this month)?

Offend people by saying what? Repeating all the scuttlebutt? Fact is, as mark or Dnwarf said earlier, this has been common knowledge in the industyry for the last two/three years or so. As far as I know, this has only come to a head in the last week. That article with the Gardeners was conducted, what, over a month ago.

Joe Carter wrote the article, any response, even to tell me to stop being paranoid?

Mikey, paranoid about what? Whether this is real or not? Or the extent to which it could be pushed? I think it's fair to say that pgi knows no more than anyone else.

Fact is, there were vague hints about patents at the time of going to press (several weeks ago) but nothing concrete enough to comment on, and people aren't too forthcoming with info when patents and such are involved until they have taken advice from their lawyers. Which is what the Gardners are doing right now, as a lot of what has been thrown around on here and elsewhere is apparently completely untrue. I tried to find out from them last night as to what is really going on with patents, but all they would say was that it's nothing like people are making out and they will send me all the info as soon as they have details in writing from their lawyers. That's why we've said nothing until now. There was nothing we could say that wasn't simply more conjecture.

And as leaving stuff out so as not to offend advertisers...more to the point would be that we prefer not to print false information due to not knowing all the facts. That would have made us look pretty stupid.

We've been promised that we will be the first to know what the patents really mean, which means you lot will be too. It should all come to light some time in the coming week.

The 4 page interview with the Gardners!

How ironic!

Paintpimp mentions them talking to 'Hollywood types', they have according to the article, I quote:

"We have the movie, we have the television and we have the league - all three are moving forward"

Since when did they 'have the league' I thought it was Richmonds?

Another direct quote from the article:

"The Gardners know that by growing the sport they will be growing their business. Because they're involved with so many different aspects of the sport at such a high level, the decisions that Billy and Adam make will eventually filter down to affect us all."

Too right it effects us! or more importantly healthy business competition.

I think when Billy said "we have the league" he didn't mean that Smart Parts own the league, just that as franchise owners, he and the rest of the NXL teams have the league.

This interview was done a good couple of months ago now. It's purely coincidence that it has come out at the same time as Smart Part's patent coming through.

During the interview, both Billy and Adam were very careful not to talk about anything concerning legal matters, as at that point nothing had been resolved.

The last paragraph may sound ambiguous when read in the current context, but when I wrote it about a month ago, it was purely meant to denote that the desicions the major companies make should interest all paintballers as they affect us all.

i) I'll apologise for that as I don't know PGI staff by their nicknames/usernames :(

ii) If its common knowledge then why didn't PGI take the opportunity "over a month ago" to clear up the issue and tell us all what they were really up to. Or would this of been offensive to their advertiser?

iii) Paranoid about a cover up by PGI so they dont lose valuble revenue, maybe. PGI might not know more than anyone else but their the journalists, they should maybe dig a little deeper to find the facts and truth so all rumours and conjecture stop now.

Mikey, I think Ant and Joe's posts above should maybe answer your questions.

Oops, you posted too quickly.

Interesting thing is though.... if your original post had been re-posted on another site, and then on another one, and then by the time dnwarf 'sexed it up' :)p) , it would read that pgi was in league with the devil and that they were totally owned by sp, and that they were going to rip up wdp.

And then, you'd be on Warpig demanding to know why APG hadn't commented on it, was it because they spent.....
:) ;)

I've been asked to relate the following message on behalf of CCI :

"Mike Casady is not involved in the Smart Parts Lawsuit and has no comment"

I get the feeling that a LOT of people are calling Mike over this, and he's trying to build Phantoms. So, ok, I'm done here.
