Staying warm on a sunday!
its funny that everyone is like OMG i'd never pay that much.

back in the day I used to pay £60 for 2000 when a walk on! and that used to be cheap!

its only since we all have seen the price of tournament paintballs that we are suddenly thinking why we were spending all that money

the fact is sites have got to make a profit otherwise they are not going to operate! simple

a sites job is to make sure that the customers have a great day

they have to incorporate in the price of paint the costs for the day

now these are numerous and a lot of which we don't even think of!

I agree some sites to make more profit than others, but people are being naïve if they think that suddenly paintball is going to become massive over night caused by sites lowerng their prices, and the sites know this too!

which is why it wil take a while for prices to come down! and trust me they are coming down a lot!

in the time I've been playing its become a lot cheaper per ball

insert you kids dont know your born statement!

man I feel old now and i'm only 23!

chill out kids! nothings free and nothings cheap! that's paintball baby!

love it and loath it!

I can vouch Scotland is expensive for paintball, we have sites up here(not mine) that are rumoured to have charged £15 per 100 balls!!!!!!!!!!!

Problem is, you guys are players, what do you get your paint for, £25-£35 per case when your at a tournament, yup cool, but you then pay £40-£70 in entry fees right?? to play what 7-10 games of paintball lasting 6 minutes each max? So, add it up, to play a tournament, shooting 2 cases of paint and playing 7-10 games you will have paid £100 average to play 42 minutes of paintball...if you last that long. Joes bloggs customer comes to a site, shoots 1500 paint and pays about that, for all his equipment rental, his co2, lunch inclusive paint, and 10-12 games across a full day, no sitting around for an hour, he gets 15-20 minute games....so, considering the site has overheads like, laundry, staff, co2, insurance, rent, rates, vat, paint, staff, toilets,...blah blah blah....do you really think charging £6 per 100 is a rip off????

Try running a site.....it's not all peaches and cream...trust me...

Have you ever thought the people that charge lower paint prices can, because their overheads are lower, or, because the volume of customers means they can do that.

So, simple maths....if a site is charging £6 per 100 because they are a smaller site, and their overheads are higher, say they sell 15 cases of paint a week.
15*£120=£1800

Now take site B who is doing 120 cases of paint a week at £4 per 100.
120*£80=£9600

So even though the price is lower, the volume of customers dictates the price, more customers=more booking fees+more paint sales....higher margins....see....

Okay...off to bed now....

Oh and I'm a player and a site owner, stop moaning, I used to pay £10 for 10 balls back in 1988....kids....jjjeeezzzz!!!!!! x

Some interesting points.

I agree that site owners cannot work for nothing, I know this, I see the bills for the overheads each month and I can tell all the players out there its not easy. However that said our site is certainly making enough to make an impact on our local community. In the short time we have been open we are drawing a lot of regular players who have said (and I quote) "Paintballs one of those things you always want to try and say youre gonna but its because you guys are so close to the city and the fact youre cheaper than ******* (other local sites) that I can play every month"

Its so good to hear someone say that. We dont make any profit, every penny goes out to marshals or directly back into the business but it is paying off. We can honestly say our mission when starting out is working and the site is continuing to evolve. Its a labour of love. :D

As for the remarks about paint prices going down over the years and the vets commenting on paint prices back in the days of old, I think this if anything shows how far the sport has gone. Not through evolutions of equipment, worldwide tournaments or fancy press. Not even TV. But simple supply and demand. I think it comes down to the fact that in small corners of country sites are selling that lil bit cheaper and making it that lil bit more accessible thus bringing more players into the community and allowing manufacturers the opportunity to sell cheaper to stay ahead of competition. How far this can go is anyones guess, maybe we are at the peak now, but surely if the community continues to grow the industy can too?

Oh yeah, I remember the days of £10 per 100 (£1 per tube!! and extra for yer 12gm 's)
Gotta go with the walk on days here, At least they give something back to the rec player. I play @ Paintball Park Southampton who charge £12.50 walk on fee and £35 per box (Diablo Blaze if you're quick!) which I don't consider bad value at all. You have to weigh it up really what you want to get from a day. 10 games woodsball gives me loadsa fun so I'm happy to spend that. Sup-air with it's short game/high paint expenditure may be good for some but not for others who have other outgoings etc..
Punterball is always gonna be more expensive as thay have to make a crust somewhere and lord praise the office Rambo's that keep prices down for the rest of us who play walk ons.
Gotta go sleep now as too much beer and overuse of the delete key are keeping me up far tooooooo late!

Mine is £30 entry fee including bbq and 300 balls. Then per extra 1000 its £50. So glad im a member there, free bbq and 40 quid per 1000, still terrible but i can smuggle paint in and its just a laugh when i go, nothing serious.

About £6 per 100 seems to be the average rental paint price in the South East, with it dropping to £5 per 100 if they buy a large amount like half a case (that's between 1-2 people, not half a case split 10 ways!).

There are a few sites cheaper, and there are more expensive as well. But you have to take into consideration what the game fee is and what's included in that - a tiny game fee with e.g. lunch included will mean more expensive paint - and the running costs of the particular site e.g. land rental, insurance etc. Plus I gather staff wages tend to be higher in the home counties than in some parts of the country.
