Saturday against Oslo Menace, we tried to coach XSV but we did not have the chance, because we had several nordic guys countercoaching.... but i bet noone noticed that.....and i bet this doesnt qualify as "crowd problems".
BS!
Several Nordic guys....? The problem was as Giles said, a pack of Portuguese players that screamed in our coaches ear the whole game, physically stopping him from moving with our snake guy.

This has to be dealt with. Since the "crowd participation" need to be there (I would like to see it removed) the coach need to be at the netting and the crowd 6-7 meters behind him.
If we let the crowd participation stay without making it possible for a coach to work the home field advantage will be too much of a factor.

The way it was in Madrid a team needs to bring "bodyguards" for the coach:)

Being about as far away from Madrid and the Mill series as you possibly can ... this might be a strange question, but:

How are the fields set up for spectators/coaching? My (limited) experience has a seperation of the 'coach' from the spectating crowd (although not from their voices) ... is that not the case for the Mill series?

Missy, I know you'll never be a one man woman. It takes at least three men to get you off the sofa.

Simple answer kids that I'm sure I've seen suggested before. Remove coaches from the spectator sideline and keep the peeps a reasonable distance from the netting. Done.

is it me, or is this all a load of bollox?

I don't think coaching should be 'official'. People can shout what they want, when they want. Its a free world. The players on the field will be better off just concentrating on the game. All this coaching crap is lame anyway. Coaches are useful before and after the game, the rest of the time they should keep thier traps shut, they distract players, interrupt their focus, and nearly always end up arguing calls during games, which is pointless, and then bitching out players afterwards, which is bad for morale.

Oh, and If someone paid 2 chicks to follow me around wolf whistling I would buy them a beer, and thats coming from a 300lb black woman. What are you? Queer or something?

I vote MissyQ for president , couldnt have said it better.

As I said

There are not supposed to be "official coaches" on the spectator sideline.... so asking for special consideration is a waste of time.

As suggested, make a 10 yard gap between the netting and ANYONE on the spectator side, and the problem is solved.

Oops! Sorry! I thought somebody mentioned 'paintball' in all this .

Here we go with all the politics again... I know I wasn't there (and probably never will be) - but why can't people just play the game like we used to - using skill and judgement - rather than relying on someone at the side netting dictating who moves where and when - rather like a giant video game?

Hmmm - maybe it's time for me to re-visit my remote control paintballer idea again.

Remember - if coaching is part of the game - then so is counter-coaching. It's illegal to wipe - God forbid anyone in here doing it . It is/was illegal to use assisted firing modes (in most tourneys) - but it still happened (hence the whole ramping debate in the UK!).

I do agree, however, that if there is to be coaching then there should be a seperate coaching area from a spectator area (just like in most all other spectator sports - football is the prime example).

I know it's not nice to be counter-coached - but it will happen. How about we all concentrate on what we are doing as players - and not become puppets for someone else's amusement?

*ching* *ching* (that's 2p for anyone not in the know ;)).

Problem solved? No coaching?

If you do as you suggest, look at this scenario; Madrid, XSV vs. Menace, 20 Portuguese "spectators" 10 yards from the net, 1 Norwegian "spectator" 10 yard from the net, level playing field? no coaching? problem solved? I beg to differ my friend;)

But Christian, problem is if you outlaw coaching, you also get rid of spectator participation, which will make the whole thing a lot more boring.

The reason I suggest the 10 yards, is that it will effectively make almost all coaching ineffective..... so you keep the spectator participation, but decrease the effects of coaching.

For me a level playing field is more important than crowd participation, it seems to work in 7 man..... Nppl......
That said I think, a ten yard limit with a designated "spectator" at the net would solve it also.
