So today we let a cut down mask go, tomorrow we let a 301fps marker go, etc etc etc.

Rules is rules is rules.

There is a boundary drawn somewhere, and we should stick to this side of it, or next thing you know, some manufacturer will start bringing out padded playing tops!

 :D :p :D

Hey, all the press release says is that goggles will be checked for safety. I know the Mill rules say that goggles cant be altered (much), but does the NPPL rulebook say the same thing?
After all, these goggles in their cut down state cover more of the face than an uncut Protues does...

Protective Gear

6.22 Players must wear full-face protection as it comes from the manufacturer in its original form

1 person got away with it...But whos to say he wasnt told to change it at some point during the day..

And even though the goggles cover more than the Proteus, altering sometimes makes the product defective unknowingly..Then comes the frivolous lawsuit and then comes another undeserving millionaire..

The point to remember is that the vast majority of players wore 'factory' standard gogs while playing. Its unrealistic to think that rule enforcers will be able to fully check and search every single player that steps on the site, fish will always slip through the net, their only human.
Are you going to find a picture of someone wiping and assume the judging was poor?

Hey Matski/Robbo I knew I would get a little roasted for the post, plus I didn't trawl thru loadsa pics...the batch I got that from was in the first that I could find posted of the event. Plus I wasn't looking for screw ups just pics of the event. The wiping thing got covered before with a badly angled pic from another tournament...didn't say nor infer the calls on the field were bad...this bad call happened before the player even set foot on the field !.......The point I was raising that as the organisors had made a BIG thing of what it was going to deliver for the players, reffing, fields, facilties etc. As for Millenium/NPPL rules this tournament was said to be incorperating Millenium rules into this "new" format, was it selective adoption ? Robbo, not sad just observant, would you as a team coach complain if I refused to let one of the team you were about to play on the field because of a rule infringement? I have been in the situation where a team insisted (as was their right) that the team they were about to play removed all the stickers on their hoppers, and those stickers were within the size limit set out in the rules but had some blue in the design...so they had to go. The sticker rule only got brought in 'cos people started to take the rise by putting too many on the hopper...in a effort to confuse the opposing team no doubt and get an "edge" but limits get pushed and the organisors of events either give in or make a ruling on something that is pushing those limits...that is progress.....

Not trying to get into Chris R***L mode..honest !

As a Judge I do my job within the rules, and there is no moral high ground for me to be on as you won't find anything about my kit that is in infringement of the rules currently in place.

U know what Mark, you may well be a judge, but you are first and foremost a paintballer and I would have thought as such, there were a million and one things, positive things, you could have commented on with regard to HB after looking at the pics other than picking up whether or not one half inch of a mask had been cut and consequently bringing into question the whole integrity of the organisation.
Mark, this tournament was like nothing that has ever been seen before, it has riding on it, the future of world paintball.
Instead of nit picking we should all be thankful that finally somebody has got their ass into gear Stateside and put on a show worthy of their teams, ironic tho, that it took and English company to do just that !!!
We should all be celebrating the fact Mark not donning the hat of a jobsworth !!
WDP have put us Brits on the American map big time and it seems all you can do is go on about some piddly little mask

Well, i think that all thoose things that were great about HB has been posted around the web including this forum.
So why is it "illegal" to come out with some criticism?

I agree with Mark that rules are there for a reason and thoose rules should be followed.

There's 'criticism' and there's 'criticism'; before you post next time, try to learn what's significant !!!
