its just a load of bull****

its normally peoples over inflated ego's that are making the sport less appealing to newer players

people who insult people cos they arent hugely talented at something are lame. F**k them.

we laugh at Kyle when he has to use a site inferno at practice because he busted the LPR on his gun. :D

does that make me lame kyle?
;)

Naw, seriously, you guys are right, i wish more people in brit ball were kinder to those starting out. We all started somewhere, we all owned starter guns, and we were all probably pretty proud of them too at the time.

The thing about paintball is that it's a very wide sport, we have total rec ballers, and hard core tourney players. in my mind the rec ballers have just as much right to the way they play ball as the tourney players have.

To each his own.

i gotta say that this is close to my heart guys.

we are going as a team to our first ever tournament. in ireland we have no local competitions, and coming to campaign is a big cost to us, as we have NO sponsorship of any kind.

i know full well that we are going to get our arses well and truly whipped and i fear that it will put the rest of the team off competition completely.

even i realise that this is not a good way forward if we want to encourage teams in ireland and northern ireland to participate. putting off players can hardly be good for promotion of the sport.

this competition is costing us a lot of money as far as travel, entry fees and buying our own markers.

i hate to say it but no matter how good the experience i doubt we will attend any other competitions if it goes the way i think it will.

Dusty, i understand your concerns, but i think that you may be suprised. I think that the rest of your team will see first hand for the first time how much of a rush it is being involved in a world class event. The team will get to see some of the best players in the world playing, and its not something that you are really prepared for untill you actually see it first hand. DVD's never do the game justice in my opinion. I think that after 3 days of being glued to the XBall and the 7man your team will be wishing that the event would last much longer. You will be back:)

Also you will find that 99.99% of peopl ein paintball are geuinely willing to help out newer players. All you have to do is ask. Many people are often only to hapy to show their kit to each other, and brag about how many players they shot, or the day they first shot a player that they had seen in a magazine!

I think you will have an awesome time:)

Good luck buddy:)

cheers for your kind words, though i still feel like i am going for target practice, me being the target.

you could call it pre tourney jitters or something but i just ain't that kinda guy. come meet us if you like peeps just look out for Team AWOL!!!! will be glad to have a friendly ear so far from home!!!

just kind of depressing that though we are genuine novices a lot of playershave been there 2,3,4 times before with different teams and therefore a combined experience level.

although i personally will be going balls to the wall and the rest of my team will be, will it be enough to inspire us to move on??
will it be enough to encourage us to return?? will iit leave us with some shred of self respect??

we have a mix of markers, from new shockers and angels to spyder pilots and a cocker!!!!

anyone who wants to laugh will be welcome to as we don't care, but at least we are going secure in the knowledge that we are in the right place and at least trying to develop ourselves.

like i said already, come on over and say hello as we are all friendly (ish) and remember we will be far from home!!!!

i really do not think it will be as bad as you expect. There will be people who laugh, but there are these people in all walks of life. They are suckers, and ignore them. There will however be ar more players and teams who will give you genuine advice and help should you ask. There are many teams like this in the Uk, Zone, Tsunami, Campaign etc.... Just ask them, and they will chat to you for as long as you can stand them;)

Good luck, will be fun
