Damn...I guess we'll just have to talk our chances, shove some PGI in the bags and pray!!

I could buy a new bottle for the amount of import tax I'll pay if we send the bottles aswell!

My point was, if you already owned them in the UK then your not liable to pay import tax on them surely? As your not importing them only shipping them round the world for your personal use? You dont pay import tax when you move country with your own belongings?

Like everyone is saying, get in contact with them and explain the situation...

In the same sense, you can come with 2 kitbags filled with pb stuff bought from the US since its for your own personal use.

Import tax is there for a reason :p the customs guy cant know if this is a sale or gift or rental or lending or whatever. And if its gonna be received by the sender himself, why not carry them along on the plane? :s

You didn't read my origional post. It isn't going on the plane because the airline we're flying with is very very strict on guns but we were informed the bottles minus regs would be fine.

I understand why it is being taxed, but once explaind I don't think we should BE taxed.

Arsed to read it all, but we have a similar situation over here regarding temporary imports. Normally, you would make arrangements PRIOR to shipping them, so they know to expect them and the correct forms and procedures can be strewn over desks and lost.

Have a chat saying you would have brought them with you when you travel, but the airlines won't allow you to carry them.

Tell them you will be requiring them while you are there fro X period of time.

They will probably want you to pay up, then get the money back when you leave...but then you have to prove the items are leaving the country.

I guess you obviously didnt read mine either?

I said they owned the markers before sending them from one country to another and then back again? I know import tax is there for a reason but it doesn't apply to this situation. You really have gone off on a tangent here because i was talking about your own belongings that your moving home with, not buying in one country and sending it back home...

I reckon we'll just have to pay it and argue later, no reply on email as of yet. Only nine days to go! Fingers crossed bottles don't get confiscated.

I wish we'd known to make prior arangements, I've never sent international before didn't realise it'd be a problem. Ohhh well!!! :)

If you'd be sending it to any EU country there wouldn't be any problem whatsoever. It's just those Norwegians...

I knooooow, i got that already, and I think you are right, BUT the guys over at the customs have no reason to believe them (and not believe that its a sale). thats what im saying.

thats why temporary import licenses or however theyre called exist..
