Tom Portox, you know me as one of the UK Refs who does the PSP World Cup, and know how I run a field. You are more than welcome to come and ref on my field and see what happens if any damn player threatens you with violence when I am Field Ultimate, I promise you this I know enough people in this industry to see them get a lengthy ban, and I am NOT scared of banning people, trust me I have done it before and I have got the balls to do it again and again,if the need be. Mars Bar, if he did say that, was indeed wrong to say that you have to grin and bear it. Would you grin and bear it if average Joe on the street came up to you and told you they were gonna twat you? would you f*ck, you'd put one on them. But as a ref you have to be better than that and remain cool and calm under pressure. That's what professionalism is all about.
You wouldn't ban me, you pussy.........

Dunno yet Tom. Ulrich and the Millenium don't exactly like us UK Refs because we genuinely embarrass the "pro" Euro Refs. See, whe we ref, it is done with a lot of common sense and understanding. The way the Millenium "refs" do things is in a "robotic" kinda way with no humanity in the way they do things. so if they ask us then we will see you there.

to be honest i dont know if ive been on one of ant fields...chances are i have but who knows....ive found tom (portox) to be an awsome ref with no preferance...if a playuer is dead...hes gone...even had his eyes on me when i was nearly a lone player in the 5 man...but mars bar i think is in a league of his own...he has to be the best ref ever...if he tells me i was shot before i shot someone then i frickin well was...i take his word as truth...ive never had a call i could disagree with from mars bar or tom for that matter. im sure many players will back me up on this...mars bar FTW.

i apologise to ant if i dont remember him...in 2006 i didnt have a bad call in the PA or masters so if you reffed either job well done

Thanks ... I always like to know I'm doing my job well.

Mars Bar is by far one of the best refs in the UK and is a damn good fella with it. I remember reffing the Indoor with him last year (the summer one) and there were only 4 of us ... he made our job so much easier I can tell you.

Ant if you show up in any form (as a ref or out of curiosity) give me a shout and say hello.

Cheers Balf I didn't mean it to be a "let's all praise Ant" thing, it just really annoys me when I hear of refs being threatened with violence. NOBODY who participates in a non contact sport should have to tolerate it or be expected to put up or shut up. And apologies to whoever started this thread, as it's sadly gone off on a whole different tangent. Someone please get it back on thread regarding rec ball, thanks

Will do Tom no worries. As for Mars Bar being one of the best in the UK, that's exactly why he wears one of the UK Refs shirts. Also one of the nicest guys I've ever met in this sh*tty industry

I've played and marshalled never really had any problems, if we found that a plyaer was purposely shooting at as we'd make a polite suggestion first, then if it continued we'd take a spare marker and 'arrange' for him to be shot out.

only ever had a problem with one marshall who was all talk when he was actually useless as a player and hadn't a clue how his kit worked.

Me 141 NEVER!!!
Toby MT, 19 years old eh? Jeez you must be one hard f*cker. First off and this is a biggie, it's not about how big your balls are. It's a question of how professional you are as a referee, customer or tournament. I have now been involved in paintball for 18 years, and the principles of how you treat the customer have never changed. Yes we all deal with goggle lifts, they will always happen but I promise you this, as a VERY professional and VERY experienced tournament referee, I see just as many, if not more goggle lifts from people who should know better on the tournament scene, not KOTH teams either. Manners go a long way no matter what the skill level of the paintball player you encounter as a referee.
It's not even about wheather you are hard or not, if the punters know from the start that you aint going to take sh*t they will prob be more behaved in a way. By all means i am no way rude to customers, if they have a problem i will do my best to help them even if that means lending them my spare set of goggles which i hate doing just so they can enjoy the day. End of day they know that we having a go at them is for there safety.

But i can see where you are coming from on the professional part as i have seen alot of marshall's that use it as a power trip
