Ramping - Robbo's Article in PGI 195

They are just covering their backs in the same way as the Millenium series do with their silly conflicting rules.

Once every company has done so, there will only be one person who is liable should anything bad happen on a paintball field and that is the player/customer.

If you use a ramping angel at a MS event you have more of an advantage than if you use 'true semi auto <-------- ' Therefore you are going to use it.

WDP will flash your board to enable these mods. Therefore you are going to use it!

They are pretending to be against it, while actively encouraging it!

either that or they are capitulating to the many teams who are asking them for this mode so they can compete with the other teams that have it.
At the end of the day this mode is now allowed in the MS.
People with other guns have it already.
Should WDP tell thier players that they have to play without it, even though the rules allow it? Of course not. So they let it out (and aren't they the last company to do this?) while expressing thier distaste for the whole thing (the ONLY company to do this).

Not a bad stance if you ask me. At least its out in the open and not a just a badly kept secret like the others...

not 100% and that's why I put in a one-liner (couldn't be arsed to type a paragraph or three again :p)

The one thing that's changed is that a manufacturer of Paintball markers is saying that they don't agree with ramping.

And as has been brought up during this argument xxx times, if the manufacturer's start to be swayed to the safety issues of ramping then it will be easier to start controlling it.

Nice to see they are taking notice. But why haven't they done the same announcement concerning the PSP events? Have they started their anti-MS campaign with the thoughts of bringing the NPPL to Europe?

and Jon C, while I take your point, you now have the option to take the risk (like everyone else). You can choose to or choose not to. The way I see it you have twice the choices you had yesterday.

Translation;

"We believe only semi-auto mode is safe. Unless it will affect our sales."

hey Chicago, if you feel the need to 'translate' my posts, try not to put your own cynical twist on it.
I don't like being translated out of context, or just plain wrongly. Better just to make your own post, then make it as cynical as you like. Or use the word 'interpret', which would be a more suitable term, as you could reasonably interpret someones post any which way you wanted to. Much better for your purposes.

I wasn't translating you, I was providing an alternate synopsis of the press release. I quoted you to illustrate that the chief difference between the two was level of cynicism.

You think providing ramping while saying you don't like ramping is noble. I think it's hypocracy - if they don't like ramping that much, they can just not sell guns with ramping. The only reason to sell guns with ramping if they really think ramping is bad is because they think gun sales are more important.

Either WDP is putting out a press release saying ramping is bad when they don't actually think it is to either attack Millenium or PSP's change (or support the position of the league they own)

Or WDP thinks ramping is bad, but thinks gun sales are more important.

Whether that's better or worse than not caring if ramping is bad and just selling ramping guns, well, not sure.
