Up to a point the sport happily evolved without pump action, without slam fire, without semis, without electros, without ramping, without the next evolution in marker technology.

I also have the
feeling whenever anyone mentions overshooting. If you're going to be an overshooting prick, you'll do it with or without ramping. I mean, I once took ten or eleven shots from someone who mugged me with a slide trigger cocker. Overshooting pricks will always be overshooting pricks.

One thing that strikes me is that whenever opinions are presented those who are complaining against whatever are always more vocal. The dissatisfied always voice their opinions more than the satisfied. That's just the way it is - people will take the time to complain but not to commend.

We see a few people on the boards voicing their dissatisfaction. Lets be generous and call it 20. Then we have another generous 20 who are for it. Assuming that half the teams had 7 players, and the other half had 8, that leaves more than 300 players from Sunday at the PA who can't be bothered to say anything. Which, going by human nature, I'd say that they're more likely to be not bothering to commend and praise than they are to be not bothering to complain.

How about at the next PA every player is asked to vote on it at the end of their playing day - ie after they have actually experienced it. I know Gillie and Hatts will hate me for suggesting more work for them, but wouldn't it be interesting to know actually how many players are against it. In fact, fck it, at the end of your session, take a poll amongst your team, allow them to voice their honest opinions, and then post it up here - pass on this to every team manager you know and we can have an unofficial count of who loves it, who hates it, and who can't think of an opinion cos they had 300 shots put into their head cos of ramping.

[edit add]

I'm also thinking don't let the lower divs use ramping, not cos they don't have the self control to not shoot the living daylights out of the other team, but cos they don't have the experience or sense to get up, and get off the field as quick as poss once shot :p

[/edit add]
Very democratic of you;)

I do agreed you do get tossers that do overshoot - but the likes of players that wouldn't generally intend to overshoot will notice themselves doing it

No one likes to be shot your right but there are rules on overkill - what we gonna do blow that rule outta the water?

Overkill causes more on and off field fights and disputes in tourney, woodland, wherever.

Your gun ramp "YOU ARE LESS IN CONTROL OF IT" i dont care what you say. I was sitting with the Velocity lads and Richy Harris with the 05 speeds and new software - after 3 trigger it went to 4 balls - ie no control on 3 of them - bend around the rules as much as you like but if the home office assessed these new modes of fire i can't see them justifying it.

Great you get to be a little lazier Robin and you get to shoot a cocnsistant stream without breaking a sweat but:-

1 we have never been allowed this type of ruling ever before and Semi never did us any harm, the sport has happily evolved without the need of rampig software

2. majority whom are against the ramping rules are thinking long term and importantly - safety - what happens if a judge stops a game 1/2 way thru due to an injury or a breach in safety i.e smashed goggles and your sitting there with a runaway marker going? you have no control over that marker finishing - therefore its a Breach of safety regulations

agree with john c.... if you have a crazy mofo wielding a gun intent on hosing everything he sees then yeah there may be an issue...but that issue will be addressed there and then and the ultimate will decide what form of penalty is appropriate

how do you mean lazier!? i have said people are going to have to run faster and better to get to thier bunkers, i have changed the way i walk to work so that it will strengthen my legs more so i can be faster.

yeah we are born of the semi generation..... but a few years back you had the same argument when pump went to semi and semi mech went to semi electro people were moaning about unfair and dangerous then... have we had lots of paintball deaths in that time?! NO... the style of play has changed and the way in which safety is addressed has also changed...i.e drop in fps to 280

and would you consider a marker runaway when it fires 2 maybe 3 shots after you have stopped pulling the trigger??....wtf man! if you saw a guy with a broken mask on the floor would you continue aiming at him???? you would move your gun down or up or any other direction than that person was! simple!

i think this topic is becoming a bit stale.... last leg we had people moaning about the sideline coaching / cheering mainly because they lost the element of suprise for their snake runner or they didnt improvise and ended up losing games.... you know what...my heart bleeds, this is a new game now...learn it and kill suckas!

bout a quid there! ;)

peace

Im feeling you on the 280fps rule still had breaks and it does slightly compensate

IMO Div 3 was a disaster this event and i can only blame the ramping - It could be due to it being a first event and people wanting to try their new toys out in living colour - i originally didn't give a damn about the ramping rainly due the 15bps limit and thought it couldn't make too much difference.

It would be good to hear EVERYBODIES opinion on this and not just on a forum.

Lets just see how 3rd leg goes:)

Not my field of paintball as I'm only just getting into paintball, but knowing about this stuff might help.

I for one would love to go and watch, but if folks don't know about it how are they to know to go?

So spread the knowledge dude :D
all the info you need on the series, the location and all that stuff can be found on
http://www.thepaintballassociation.biz/
if you are looking for a team to cheer Milton keynes storm would appreciate it :D

kevin

there are two large towns near by i live in one but to be honest never seen anything in the local rag about it ..
have you tried giving them some info yourself ?
the pa guys have tried to help people advertise and present themselves to local media. but very few have actually done it.
the tsunami and leicester guys have had notable success with this.

The view that Div 3 was a disaster wouldn't come from the overall results, and the fact that for the first time since the PA began, Fat Bobs York didn't run riot all day long? ;) :D
When did we ever run riot? Best result ever was last month... last year we failed to ever finish in the top five :)

What I dont like about it is...

... you're either shooting like one ball a second or ripping out 15.

What happens when i want to shoot 6 or 7 a second? You never used to shoot your marker flat out all the time before ramping came along but it seems it's like all or nothing with the rules we've got now.
