I personally don't have a problem paying $20 yearly for an ID card, but only if it's effective. If it turns into a user tax with no tangible value for the players, then I'd have a problem.
Ditto. Perhaps if the PSP had put this in place at first, proved that it worked, THEN charged for it, I wouldn't have a problem.

But the system hasn't even been proven yet.

And Raehl's only response being "It will work" doesn't comfort me a bit.

As for me "looking for something to report on"? No, I'm not. I'm a player, and as a player, I look after other players.

I got an idea - let's get everyone here to put in, say $10, we got 7,000+ forum members, so that'd make 70k.

Then we give it to Lane, so p8ntballer.com pays his salary.

Then we set fire to Raehl on account of tha fact that he's Raehl. Lane won't stop us cos he works for us now.

Not sure whether that'd make tha PSP better or help stop those pesky, hole digging, worm eating, sand badgers, but it'd maybe cheer some people up. And give us all something to report on.

Solutions? I gots em coming outta my ears.

I don't really need to get involved here but when has that stopped me before? :)

I will have the opportunity in a coupl'a weeks to report on the effectiveness of the PSP's system as I'll be in LA for the event.

Perhaps the suspicions about this relate to the MS and NPPL id's which are (or at least have been) patently nothing other than a participation tax masquerading as another piece of plastic for your wallet.

And personally, I'm wary of "extras." If the id's are a service required by the players and in the interest of the promoters why is it an "extra" fee? Why not incorporate it into the necessary pricing structure? It may seem like a small quibble but it makes one wonder, what's next? A security surcharge to help secure the player's area or maybe a clean-up fee? There's lots of options and once the precedent is set lots of ways to charge more in small bites.

And no, Lane, I'm not hinting that some conspiracy is afoot but the less the paintball promoters look and act like the phone and cable companies the happier I'll be. :D

PS--sandbagging is a myth.

"No, sandbagging is real. The female orgasm - that's the myth!" :D :D

(sorry, couldn't resist)

As far as the IDs go, I don't know if they'll help with sandbagging or not. One thing it may help with is identifying players who aren't rostered on a team. While it doesn't happen often, it's tough to catch it when it does.
