Sorry mate, the E-Blade is not a leaf switch, the Race is.

The E-Blage is using an Eclipse Magno Blade style trigger with an optical sensor. The trigger breaks the sensor and the marker fires. No switches at all, switches are so passee

But you're more than welcome to add the Warp Interface:D

I hear people raving about the E-Blade before it is even released.

Sheesh.

Now, I am a Racegun Distibutor in the US. And a "been there done that" 'Cocker guy.

I also see your raving about an E-grip because of PRICE?

First, I will say Eclipse is good kit, but look at it close.

It has a Spyder type of sear release. I am not dissing it, but take a close look. Large solenoid, long lever to release the sear.

Racegun has a small solenoid and roller sear, which is much more effecient. We will be getting 50,000+ shots from a 9v. Expect 20,000 at the most from the other 9v E-grips. And it was tested to 2 million cycles. If I was making a Blowback, I would copy the sear release, it would make for the shortest, lightest trigger pull.

It looks like they are using a SMC solenoid. Great choice. A much better choice for Front Pneus than anything else.

Look at the space it takes for each grip. Racegun does it in a much smaller grip. That takes some engineering. And thought.

The Eye:

Okay, I will say Eclipse made a great Eye cover and setup, clean and smart. But it is still a Reflective Eye. Like a Sandridge. What have people been saying about Reflective/Sandy Eyes? Have to run special colored bolts, can't run some paint, Grumpy in general. You have to adjust sensativity.

The Racegun ACE is a true optical cut off. Do I EVER break paint in a Raced and Aced Cocker? Nope. I have heard of people runing 25,000 rounds with out a break yet. Can anybody else say that?

Shoot, if you guys want cheap, I will find a way to add a solenoid to a M3 spyder grip. Should be $200 or so.

You get what you pay for.

Well said pbjosh, i have been through this before and the solenoid is identical to the one used in kingmann markers...which happens to get 4-7k shots on a spyder which is with a 9.6v battery except with this it has to operate the solenoid valve too.

Also what you said about optical eyes, that it true but why dont all 'magic eyes' use this method instead? It is much more reliable and will work for everyone.

Oh, and i already do the electro grips for spyders :p :D :D

Don't forget the 9.6v in a spyder is a great battery. You get more than twice the power out of it than a standard 9v.

A 9.6v Plainview might get as many as 100,000+ shots out of a Racegun 9v grip. Now that is something worth checking out.

And about the Eye-

The Timmys use the same Eye. And the original timmys had the Eye mounted mid breech, which caused some feed problems due to the Eye sensing the ball mid fall, closing the bolt to fast. Part of the problem with the Reflective Eyes. They are mounted Mid Breech, which means they can sence the ball at mid fall, causing breaks.

Josh,

I can't talk techie with you 'cause frankly I've not got the background. My question would be does it work?

I've tried the damn thing and the answer is yes, so from a punters point of view the two grips do the same.

The Eye, yup is a one sided reflective eye, just like AFAICR every other marker with an eye out there except Race and the IR3's COPS. No one else seems to have problems, now the development has moved on.

Sheesh I recall the debates on the race forums about whether you need an ACE cause cockers don't chop unless you short stroke them and that's near impossible with an electro. I haven't chopped a ball in 8k's worth of paint and that's with a standard blade.

My comments on Race have always been about the price. I've been a fan since the first generation was previewed in PGI, but at ~£350 I couldn't justify the expence as a returning to paintball rec-baller trying to get his game back to play tourneys. I bought the Blade trigger simply as a better option until I could save up for the Race and eye etc.

Then the price started to creep up, it became more of an investment and less of an accessory, (figures from Races own site)

Chrome Grip 686 Euros
ACE 100 Euros
Installation 33 Euros
Spare Battery 26 Euros

Total 845 Euros

Conversion from Xe.com £538.05

Add ~20% for Import Duty and VAT into the UK

£645.66

That's a lot of cash simply for a replacement grip frame and a spare battery. That's dangerously close to "sod it I'll buy a new marker, hmmm a tricked out Impy does the same!" territory.

You do get what you pay for, but I'm sorry in this case I don't believe I'm getting £650 worth, the tech and background may be fantastic, you may get 2x-3x more shots out of a 9v battery, but hell 9v batteries ar £15 for 10 at Costco. £300 difference in the prices gets me a lot of batteries and it gets me a screen on the grip with timer, shot counter and the like.

How much are race planning to charge for their version of the screen, that's an add on for the future isn't it?

Plus, personally, Planet are down the road for me and it's easier for me to get stuff fixed in Manchester than it is in Denmark;)

I'm not dissing the race frame, I'd love one.....but it suffers in some areas against the blade and one of them is price.

I guess we'll see who outsells whom in the end

Im guessing the race will stay in the lead due to the fact that it has been on sale for much longer, and they have the experience with electro cockers.

Also, has anyone noticed that the solenoid on the e-blade sticks above the frame at least 5mm.....how do you get grips on it with that sticking up?

Just a thing about the price-

The new 9v Racegun grip will be out very soon. I know it will be $445 US, and considering the Euro/Dollar ratio, that isn't to bad.

And after we get Eye covers the Eye install will be cheaper.

I do see that the end result of the E-Blade works just about the same, and for less. And in standard Ecplise style it looks damn good also.

There is just a few differences internal that makes the difference, and a couple of "it is better and cheaper and comes with an Eye" comments are really just tickling my BS Hype Meter.

And I really hate Hype for Hype's sake. Call me a nitpicker. Even though fighting ignorance is a losing battle.

And in the End, I add it up and think the E-blade is a good deal and solid looking Kit.

But I know the Racegun Kit is a bit better, and how. Does it account for the price difference? Yes. But to the average Joe or Jane, they will most likely not see it for a bit.

Nice
"WoWoWoooh easy Tyger !:p " as my Shockwave team-mates use to say!

Customers has to make their own mind. Go out and try both is the best advice I can give you. Listen to owners and ballers but don't beleive that NASA technology is involved and that there could be a magic little dwarf actuating the switch for you inside!

BTW, The excellent airsmith, Keith from Belsales is distributing and supporting our products from the start in UK (No shiznit Sherlock?)

I won't talk about Eclipse product because I haven't seen it, feeled it, shot with it and tournament tested it... (and I obviously probably won't  ). I can only wait to read REAL reports on it.

BUT, as we all noticed and all learned from WDP high quality support, RACEGUN has been nearly on all Millenium event this year. We are also present in USA. We give instantly high quality tech support to our customers when they need it the most... during tournaments!

Our products have evolved during the past years, we tournament tested it (Lockout in NPPL, NBK and Shockwave novice in the Millenium) and we improved it whenever it was necessary. May be our grip doesn't give you your horoscope but just beleive my word when I tell ya you're on the safe side now with our computer grip.:p
