So far all i've heard about the worlds "Paintball premier" event is the fact that its reffing is so bad its laughable, the trade layout is a joke and of course the Avalanche incident. (Which in itself show the poor quality of the tourney..... Salm shooting from the woods....Woods?!?!? Since when do major tournies now adays get played near bloody woods for christs sake?)

Now obviously the PSP guys know what a tourney should be like (they play enough over here) so my question is do these quys really not give a toss or are they just incompetant? Obviously there's a hugh grey area between black and white but cmon there are limits.

On a side note. How about we just donate Niall for a few months to run a proper tourney for our American breatheren? I'm beginning to feel sorry for them!

Please feel free to attack any of the above cus i'm only going on rumours and heresay when it comes to American tournaments

Cheers

Milhouse

P.S To all American teams. You must cough up serious cash to play these events. If you play 2 then next year only play 1 and come over to play Europe! It will be worth it!

Milhouse, where's Bart?
Perhaps the answer is they do give a toss but not so much about the players as other things as they certainly aren't incompetent--damned with faint praise I believe they call that.:)
As to coming over to play in Europe--sounds like the ticket to me.

It's you and your teams planning abilities

Now Niall not that we want you getting a big head but would you have planned a tourney where there would only be 3-4 judges on each field? I don't think so.

At campaign the marshalls were all over us (Which was very nice if it was the cute blonde. Does anyone else remember her? Although not so nice on the Banzai field!) At the world cup there was reportedly something like 4 marshalls doing ten man. Now that spells disaster which ever way you look at it.

I know that the world cup had 12 fields as opposed to 7 but even so. If they can't get the staff they gotta start limiting the number of entries. There's a scary thought....make less money to improve playing conditions. I'll probably be hunted down and shot for suggesting it!

Anyway thats my rant over with.

Mill:

Imagine what a letdown was it for european teams shelling out the cash to get there. We are spoiled :)

One big reason that Millenniums have better judging is 'cause it was planned that way. The rules require a minimum of 8 judges per field. NPPL requires only 4 for 5-player and 6 for 10-player. That alone is scandalous for NPPL, IMO.

But then comes the question of enforcement. If the World Cup did only have 3 or 4 refs on 10-player fields then they broke the rules. But that has happened before. There is no enforcement or teeth to the rules.

So, once again, I refer to the rules suggestions in the thread "Enforcing the rules...".

Require that the promotor follow the rules and standards for a tournament at risk of losing the annual venue. Question is: what if the promotor in question the head of the league? Thank God Niall put on one the best tourneys ever in contrast to one where they have to ask people to move their cars up to provide lighting for the awards ceremony.

But, on the other hand, I truly believe the Millennium promotors ought to be required to pay their judges at least as much as NPPL ($100 daily plus lunch and drinks). Of course I think judges need to be paid more to have to put up with shots in the back, verbal threats, drinks in the face and tanks upside the head! And there should never be any doubt in anyone's minds that the perpetrators of such offenses will be suspended.
