Lenses are tested to 300fps and made of different plastic than pots.
Plus the way Liam dives about his pot would have take a few beatings in the past and probably weakened them.
Same thing happened to me on august walk-on.
But a pot is not a safety item. So doesn't needed to be tested to as strict safety standard.

Lenses are mostly tested to a thousand fps rather than just the 300 minimum.

it took me nearly 4 pots of direct hits to go through an i4 lense at 300fps. made me feel safer about what i put over my eyes although most of the gogs have a vent above your eyes so if you where unlucky you could still end up ant mcpartlin.

it was also no more than 2 foot from lense to barrel, on a crappy old lense.

This was the result of a close range mugging. We've all seen broken pots but I've not seen one with a clean hole straight through it!

Just to chime in and agree, Ive seen this many times. Even saw Ollie Lang once break out, and I think BC was behind him. Ollie goes to make a move, and a ball from BC goes through his hopper lid, and into the hopper. Musta made quite a mess! Regardless, he finished the game in style :)

Lenses are tested at twice the limit so 600fps, saw a video from some company starting up showing the tests. I have never had any of my lenses crack, I always change them if I see any stressing. Old goggle sets that have been put on manikins on site last about a month before the continual attention by kids shots (of which most miss naturally) causes them to fail. Then again they are out in the elements, etc....

I have had pots, hopper shells, clothing all shot through before so nothing new or unusual here in this pot being shot through. Tournament players, 99.9% of the time do run their markers under 300fps.

Across the field? Baring in mind that a paintball loses a ton of velocity even after 10 meters, so this guy must have been shooting at a seriously high fps, or the lens was cracked slightly before hand, or you are embellishing this story somewhat :)

well its a first for you and butty, but I've seen this happen often enough on site with guns only being run around 250-270fps. its one of those random things that happens like the shot that didn't hurt leaving a bruise the size of a melon.

also aren't all muggings close range.
