DPB.....bah, it's ok but it's really just the best of a bad bunch.

Leaving your console zealousness at home fanboys. Although i do personally prefer the Xbox over the PS2 for many reasons, i hope that any future top level tourney paintball game comes out for every single current format. PS2, 'cube, Xbox, Gameboy Advance, PSP (Playstation Portable), PC, 3G mobile phone...the more formats a (well done) game comes out on the better. Of course as long as the mechanics were adjusted for each platform variety so they are more appropiate. This way more people will know of the massive SPORT that 'ball is developing into, a world away from punter woods 'ball.

the aforemnetioned designs i've been developing have been primarily based around current console generation, that way the game could be in as many hands as possible. Also i'd like to approach the idea from an EA Sports perspective, very flash, very pollished and very slick. So many ideas, so little time and money.

Did anyone here ever buy Paint Brawl? PC World had it returned the same day I bought it...I was actually shocked to see the copyright date on the CD was 2001, I was expecting somethin like 1997 :)

Pinched from Pbnation, who pinched it from facefull.

Facefull: Talk of a video game… big-name players have signed a contract linking them to an X-Box video game.

RI: Very disruptive. Extremely disruptive. The players that signed that contract just ruined their careers. Unfortunately, none of them went to speak to anybody, they didn’t ask for legal consultation… What basically ended up happening is that the people behind this video game realized that there was a TV deal coming, they knew more than the average player, they signed up these names, figuring that when the TV deal comes, these rights they just signed off would be worth a lot of money and they could sell it for a profit…

Facefull: To you.

RI: Back to anybody. They preyed on a bunch of paintball players that didn’t know any better. Basically these players ruined their careers. Any player who signed this contract, TV will not pick them up.

Facefull: That’s for sure?

RI: One hundred percent. They need to either get out of the contract, they need to go see their own attorneys, explain that they signed a contract without any consultation, without any warning, they were misled, and they need to get themselves out of that deal. When the TV deal comes and happens, and when those players are asked to sign exclusives with the TV, they don’t have a choice. If they have signed an exclusive to somebody else, they can’t sign with TV. Their careers are over.

Facefull: This might mean losing Chris Lasoya, Rich Telford… big names…

RI: Unfortunately. Big names, definitely… But like I said, I love those guys, they are my best friends… They will be replaced.

Yeh SURE it would be amazingly LUSH! for a paintball game to come out, but don't just make a game make LOTS of games even a series like pro evo (not that i play it!......) they could atleast make a BRITISH paintball Tv show as well because I can't seem to find one in the UK except Mission Paintball on Bravo but that doesn't come on anymore! eh! they could ATLEAST bring it on PS2, I have an XBox too but my brother keeps it down his and is too lazy to bring it up!

I do think Richmond is right to an extent. If players have sold their (image) rights individually in advance to a games company then its just going to be moronic.

When a PROPER pball games comes out it need to be the proper shebang with the full aproval of the NPPL, NXL or whatever format the devleopers choose (personlly id go for NXL, see above). And through that overall license they would get the rights to have all the top level teams of the respective league.

Yeah, it's kinda nice to hear that some deals have been signed wich may mean a game is in production but i feel this whole selling of ones image rights will be counter productive and only helps to split and fragment the sport even further. Its gonna be rather naff when for example you may see an NPPL game with Dynasty, Legion, Nexus, Joy etc but no Ton Tons or Naughty Dogs anywhere to be seen because the developer of the game could not afford the license to the team/players names.

Although i never thought i'd hear myself saying this (i've worked under them twice) I hope Electronic Arts get the rights to make a big fat pball game. Whatever you may say about the superiority of Pro Evo over FIFA, EA Sports (probably under the 'Big' label) have the marketing budget and the experience to make a really slick pball game. Also EA would probably make the game multi format so it is availble to the most amount of gamers instead of going for the cheapskate single platform (xbox) only development.

Either way, i think these deals are rather pre emptive. I don't think you're gonna see a really good, well developed game untill 'ball gets big and hits the TV in a proper way. Until there is a firm market for the development i just cant see publishers forking out the money to develop a game until there is a decent size market for it. If/when pball does get big, the format (NXL, etc) of the game will be decided by which the regular joes see most often on their TVs
