EA games isn't even considering paintball as a video game concept currently.
I had a breif conversation about Paintball and video games with one of our Executive Producers, and basically the view is this;
if we could sell 1 million units of a paintball game every year, then we would consider it.
Here's the problem, Paintball is a 'war simulation' in most people's eyes. It's not widely recongised as a major sport, and has no fan base outside the player comunity. In short, who is going to buy a paintball video game, based on tournament paintballers? Tournament paintballers, that's who. Frankly if Tournament paintballers were my sole market, then i would't get out of bed in the morning to do business.
So what about the rec-ballers, there's millions of them in the USA. Well they play paintball because it's a war game, it's a simulation of their favorite war films, and tv shows. So if they're going to go out and buy a game, they're more likely to buy a war based first person shooter.
Of course if the TV deal ever materialises, and paintball gets an actual fan base then maybe someone will buy a tournament based paintball game... That's a big if though.
