I agree with you popo.....
It's hard to confront somone stealing something so (in the grand scheme of things)insignificant.Things like that usually blow up in to full scale fights.
Whereas if it was a marker or something I suspect ohno would have taken a different course of action.
And what's with this "wuss" stuff.Sounds like playground talk.
Whatever happened ohno helped this kid out at his loss.Which makes him a sound bloke.

What OhhhNooo did was make sure the kid still had a day of fun without worrying about thieves, so that's cool in my book. But then again, Popo's point in case can't be debated either, these dudes don't monitor their self-image so ocassionally someone should step in to school 'em.

Still, theft equals theft. It's wrong and should be banned from this kwazy woild.

The thing is, on the paintball field money is kinda here then gone...ya drop a pod, there goes a few bucks right there. Hardly worth moping about, but the expense can get kinda out of hand. Paint theft is bad because it's just so hard to keep track of it. Did I shoot all that, or did someone skim a bit here and there? I need to start shooting Darts or something that won't fit people's barrels so maybe they'll leave my stash the hell alone, or some off color like blue where I can tell if someone has it. Losing money while supposed to be having fun SUCKS!!!

Ohhhnooo, I just read you're bio. You've gotta trust me on this one. Read the book "Gates of Fire" by Steven Pressfield. If you enjoy what you state in your bio, this will be a diamond for you even though it is slightly off. Then ask yourself how Dienekes would have handled your situation. I think you will begin to understand my point when you have read about these men who lived so long ago. There are not many of them left in the world and we could use them more than ever.

Yes what the world needs today are more fearless slave-owning proto-fascist warriors from ancient Greece

Sorry CROOKED-POPO but I don't feel that the Spartans are a particularly good role-model for anyone. If you want to look to ancient Greece for inspiration look to Athens,at least they left behind great works of philosophy, science, politics and literature

Agree that "Gates of Fire" is a good book though. I'd also recommend Pressfields follow-up book "Tides of War"

I'll have to check that out. What I meant for him to admire is their courage. What size the other person is should not be a factor in his decision to act or not. That is allowing your fear to make your decisions for you. That isn't admirable, I don't care how small an incident they want to say it was.

Another good book to read would be Batman and Robin : The Dynamic Duo.
And the relevance of this classic work of literature to this thread would be???? :p

CROOKED the Spartans weren't brave in the normal sense so much as brainwashed. They lived in a society which took boys away from their famililies aged 8 had them spend the next 12 years in barracks being trained, inducted them formally into the army at 20 and forbade them marrying or living out of camp until they were 30. If you raise people in this environment you will tend to produce extremely effective soldiers (and also extremely disfunctional human-beings)

As for the case at hand I must concur with the opinion expressed by others here that you shouldn't judge people by your own beliefs or standards especally since you weren't there at the time

Theft is theft.

It does not matter if it is a paper clip. If I steal a paper clip and get away with it, I am more inclined to steal a stapler tommorrow.

The murder analogy is extreme and sounds that way because so many steps were left out on the road between thinking it is ok to steal paint and thinking it is ok to take a life. Also, a life is unique, and only the cheapest paintballs are each unique.

The fact is, stealing paint is one step down a road that starts with stealing paper clips and a grape from the grocer and doesn't end until genocide or mass murder of some sort. There are many steps between, but the path of evil is the same. Somewhere along that path is stealling your new Angel. Somewhere else is stealing paint.

We who don't want bad things to happen cannot afford to say, "well, it is bad, but not that bad." Is it evil or not? If so, the only choice is do you tolerate evil or not.
