Players switching teams

Double Standards?

I think Hatts was referring more to a guy playing for one team (that he's registered with) in the prelims then turning out for a different team in the semis the next day!
Hatts/Liz,

I Fully agree with you.. I think players should be limited in which teams they can play for and I'm glad to see that you do... A higher division player can easily control or even win games for us lower division teams which some might feel is unfair....

However, if this is your opinion then what about the Last 2k2 event at Nottingham where the 6E Chicks, a Division E team, recruited the services of one of the Killer Clowns, a Division A team, who almost single handedly won them several games and boosted them to a 3rd place slot.

Isn't that the same scenario?

Hi Si

There are specific rules in the Millennium series about playing for different teams and very strict conditions laid down about transfers between teams, have a look at the relevant section in the rules on the Millennium site.

BTW, at Nottingham it was a case of using the Clowns or going out short of players right up until we managed to borrow a gun for a novice guy with us. Didn't notice any complaints about Storm Birds using a couple of pro standard players when they won the division at Wakefield.

I've never read any of the millenium rules (don't even know where to get them from), and I was unaware of the same situation with the stormBirds at Wakefield... I'm sure there are several teams that have done the same thing, probably not with the intention of winning but like the chicks, with the intention of not playing a man (or woman) down.

I was just wondering what peoples thoughts on the situation are.. should other events adopt a similar rule to the Millenium series?, or are people happy with players guesting for other teams from any division?

Anyway, we're digressing from the point of this thread so I'll stop now.....

You quick dude.

Erm....ok, player switching. At first I was gonna say that I wasn't bothered about players switchin in local events but then I started thinking about how unfair that is for the lower ranked teams who turn up at an event with high hopes then see one of their teams with a couple of Div A players in there. We've done it ourselves to help out a team short on players but have then gone on to destroy other teams single handedly (the power of The Macine™) which aint really fair at all to be honest. This takes away any kind of order and structure the whole idea of having divisions, they are there for a reason and should be respected. Perhaps teams that enlist a Div A player (local events) should have points deducted or something to even the whole tourney out a bit??

What I disagree with is teams forming AM/Novice teams from Pro players, that sucks. Example, Kiss Cool. Now correct me if I'm wrong but weren't they on the verge of being Pro as French Kiss?? Ton Ton Acydd, how many pro Tons are in there?? A proper registering system needs to be addressed so players are classed as individuals aswell as their team.

Millennium Rules

Paraphrased I'm afraid, as I can't copy a chunk of an Adobe document & can't be bothered to retype every single word. Basically :

3.71 Players need an ID card, cost 20 Euro for novice players & 30 euro for Am & pro. Renewal after transfer or loss of card 15 Euro

3.72 The category of the player on the card is that of the team he registers with

3.73 Transfers to another category (external transfers) players allowed 1 such transfer per season, this transfer deducted from the number of transfers he's allowed within his new category

3.74 transfers within same category
3.74.1 Pro players - ID is team specific for the season & identifies player as pro. 1 transfer per season allowed, must happen before beginning of the 4th leg of the season
3.74.2 Amateur players - ID specific for the team for the season & identifies player as amateur. Player allowed 2 transfers per season
3.74.3 Novice Players - ID identifies the player as novice. No limitations to the number of transfers during the season.

So I think I can see a hole here. It states that Pro & Am ID cards state the team name, but doesn't say the Novice cards do. Any holders of a Novice Millennium ID card want to say whether their team name is on their card?

This also possibly leaves the situation open to abuses - what's to prevent 2 teams combining their best players into the team that qualified for the semis, just for that event (as an extreme), or even a player going out for 2 different teams at the same event?

That's ok for the Larger Millenium events.. but what about local events.. there are no rules or limitations governing players levels or moving between teams.

Do we need such rules at local events?

For some of us we do not have the backing or funding to travel to the Millenium events, no matter how much we want to, and our only Tournament play is events like the excellent 2k2 events run by Bully. It's always a bit of a downer to be scalped buy a team or player who should be 2-3 divisions above us..
