If the industry were healthier I'd agree with the above post, but I think the whole idea behind all these new ideas is to get everyone pulling together to strengthen a weak industry. £10 is a very reasonable price, and that's coming from a jobless student! With no kit to drag about I'm sure teams can travel together to save costs and encourage attendance. Team road trip anyone? I love this idea! Speakers, demonstrations, trade stands, tech stalls, reball section. All goooooooooooood :D:D:D:D Don't want it to get overcomplicated though.

Funny you should say that, because I have been playing since 1987, when it was £120.00 for one box of paint and 50p for the c02 cartridge to gas the marker, so I'll leave you to do the maths on the cost of a days play.

However a players conference where the player has to pay to attend, one can't help but feel it's another fleecing opportunity.

Why should the player pay when there are going to Trade Stands there, surely it's in the interests of the trade stands to ensure players are there so they can generate revenue from the players attending.

Why not just have an open house and have a players area while the UKSPF conference is on, then everyone gets to mix and exchange ideas and thoughts.

And before I get dragged out and shot at dawn, this is just my opinion, if it goes ahead good luck with it.

This guy here is everything that is wrong with our sport, a complete and utter tw4t!!

The first time someone tries to do something for the UK baller in terms of putting on a seminar for everybody to enjoy, he implies it's a 'fleecing opportunity' .......this and other things makes me wanna give up :/

Dev, i dont think anyone's suggested it's gonna be 10 quid for this, that was just a number bandied about and I would think it would be more than that when you factor in hire of halls etc that will be in the thousands.

But let's not worry too much about that, I'm sure me and Steve Bull can come up with another way to fleece the Uk paintballer out of their hard earned money... I mean, me and him have got such a horrendous track record when it comes to cheating ballers.

I love the idea of a conference as it will give me an opertunity to see what new products are out there and what is happening in the world of paintball, also it will give me a chance to buy some new stuff.

Sure, I was just running off the number that was floating about, but even if it were £30 I'd still think it was a bargain for the experience you'd get if it was pulled off successfully. As far as I'm concerned, I'm willing to pay to support events that benefit me, rather than have costs cut to the point that they aren't worth attending just so I can save cash.

Pete & Bully,

I take my hat off to you, this idea is genius. If any of the main dealers can be there to help with software support for older markers to be reflashed then even better.

As for hotel costs - I'm all for a night on the lash:D, As for entry costs I would like to point out to people you only need to look at the Boat show - people pay to enter - Include those of us who have raced around the world on the BT Global Challenge, and that was after paying out £22K for your place on board.

Nothing in life is free - and if you want to attend then yes there should be a fee, how else can Bully and others justify to their families what they are doing.

Perhaps a two day seminar with day 1 being for Team captains? Or even the first of these events being Captains only to allow a feel of how it will work?

I look forward to the date and venue being announced.

Pete and Bully I'll buy a you a beer each for this fantastic idea.

I think open it up to everyone - non paintballers are welcome. We need all the new blood we can get, and this sort of thing might just do the trick.....especially for the younger generation.

I've pm'd Pete with this but a good, central place to hold it would be here:

http://www.trenthamgardens.co.uk/events.html

It's two minutes from junction 15 of the M6 and has masses of outdoor and indoor space. They have events all year round so are set up for things like this.....Onsite hotel/bars restaurants and more free parking than NCP.

You could set up a couple of fields and get teams playing all weekend on one field, the other field for the public to try out the sport....charge them £12 for a couple of games with a hopper full or something.

I'd happily give up my free time to make this work.
