Well it took to the 10th post before it got down to the "Why are we paying £10" question so I suppose that is good !!!

It is encouraging that a couple of personnal e mails I have had think it is a great idea and that £10 is about the right price to charge !!

to be fair, most trade shows/conferences have an entrance fee. £10 is reasonable.

(edited after re-reading OP, doh)

Great idea by the way.

I think early March would be a good time. (Most) People have got past the Christmas spend and are looking at spending their first proper pay cheque of the year. i know it's not all about money but it helps.

I'm a country member!
I would have thought the best time of year to hold it would be at the end of the season, after the major leagues have finished, to allow the industry to show of their brand new shiny gear. Probably November sometime, after World Cup.

Also, that time of year would be more suited for most of the 'big name' players/teams as the season's pressure is off and it won't cut in to their training schedules.

I laughed at the implication that there should be no cover charge, try rocking up at the Ideal Home Exhibition, Motor Show etc. and trying to dodge the entrance fee! Come on guys, there are costs involved here.

Ideally I think it should be a weekend gig, with maybe one day more focused towards the presentations from Pro players etc and the other more tech orientated with product demonstrations etc.

Excellent idea and would go to it, even if it is up North!

Where there is a bar I shall be there! :D

For the people who think that it should be 'free' remember that traders are not made of money and unless you want it held in a field there will be a charge! A trade/players show would be excellent and I look forward to it.

As Steve indicated, we had a good talk about this at the conference and I think it's certainly something we (UK Paintball) need in more ways than one.

About 6 or 7 years ago, PGi was gonna run a similar event whereby we were gonna hire a hall with available overnight residences (if needed) and so we were looking to hire out University facilities to host the seminar.

It was gonna be a paintball fest with guest speakers, new products being launched and explained, lectures including technical/tactical subjects, question and answer forums and a trade exhibition.
I was gonna ask some friends of mine to attend, and I think at the time, I was gonna get Sergey, Ollie Lang, Dave Youngblood and Chris Lasoya to name but a few, to speak at the seminar but unfortunately we never followed it thru.

I think me and Steve are gonna have to sit down a lot more and try to develop this idea because its timing is fortuitous in many ways, if it comes off that is.

For those people who are gonna start questioning the justification of a £10 entrance fee, maybe it's best you stayed at home, or even the guy who wanted to get a UKPSF membership, try it out, and then ask for his money back if he didn't like it, best you stay at home too mate.

If we can get this up and running, it will be a kick-ass paintball extravaganza but it will need your support.
I remember when we were thinking about this before, we were looking at, and budgeting for about 450-500 people, now I am not so sure we could get that many now and maybe Steve has a better idea of that than I, but rest assured, if we do it, then it will be worth going to.
Any ideas or suggestions will be welcome.
