As this is a Planet Eclipse product I am sure it will perform exceptionally, I am sure the service side of things will be fantastic I am sure the anno will be perhaps the best in the business (as previous Planet markers have always been). I also think the price tag is perfectly fair. Seriously, anyone who expected a sub £600 marker is off their rocker - how do you expect companies to pay for R&D, Marketing, Production, Sponsorship?????
I think only a fool would bet against the capabilites of this marker.
However...
The only sensible negative point I think are making is that it isn't very aesthetically pleasing. It looks like the produce of engineering and not an artist. In other words function most defiantely came before form here (no bad thing when it gets to shooting it).
Perhaps it will be a grower in the desirability stakes (look how many people hated the DM4 when it first came out!) but for the time being I'm no fan of it's looks. I also think that due to the fever pitch of (mostly self induced) hype in the last few days many over enthusiatic forum members were expecting the moon on a stick and this is a knee jerk reaction to not getting what they felt was coming.
Looking forward to having a shoot of one though and I'm very pleased we have another UK company making their own marker. Hats off to Planet for having the balls to take the plunge.
