I study geological economics and i can tell you that the US does want to remove Iraq government as iraqs government wants to put their oil reserves onto the market. the US don't want this as it will make the meager reserves in the US price drop considerably.

but i believe this thread was about the attack on PGI not on international politics:confused:
And thats all we need is a madman having even more money while his population suffers and dies..But im confused..Even with a post Saddam Iraq, the oil reserves are going to go on the market anyway so its gonna happen eventually...We would just rather have Iraq use the money from revenues for thier people and not thier weapons programs.....

Which you will achieve by bombing them from altitude?

Why not just get the man then? i'm sure delta force could manage.
I renew my offer to take Saddam out with a pointy stick, then everyone is happy.

Er? what? I haven't avoided any questions, I've repeatedly said get rid of him, the only thing I'm against is all the posturing and he shouldn't have this etc.... If you want rid of him, get rid of him, do it quickly and everything can get back to normal because.
The UK and US will get him, no-one will change our minds.
No matter how hard we try we can't make the rest of the world approve.
So just get him and do it properly this time. All the arguments are pointless, are all those battleships going to turn around because Russia objects? or are the Chinese going to have a change of heart and send in ome support vessels........no. So just do it.
Probably best to send in some ground troops this time too, otherwise he might hide again........just some free tactical advice.

Yep it was but then the digrestion of the topic shows some people both sides of the atlantic have differing views regardless of the subject, only this time it has gone all truly political unlike the other thread where it was political correctness gone mad.
I beat my head against a wall last time with a american political ideal against an english one not going there again. State of the Union address tonight "will" be interesting viewing but whatever is said tonight unless at the end of it, it is annouced that the bombers have flown nothing will have changed at least for the short term.

Ill just throw this last thought in here and maybe when Duff responds but why is this always Americas problem??This guy has thumbed his nose at the U.N. for the last 11 years yet its always the big bad Americans fault when **** finally has to get done...Maybe if your governments would get off your ****ing asses an did something every once in awhile we wouldnt be in these situations ..But once again we're always mopping up messes the U.N doesn't wanna deal with and catching flack every second of the way....

Saddam has had almost 12 years under U.N. mandate to disarm...All you Peaceniks who protest going to war either have a distorted sense of time or history or both...And any of you who argue that action is unjustified because we dont have a smoking gun are delusional...When the Ukraine choose to disarm they never played hide-and-seek and goverment officials guided inspectors every step of the way to ensure disarmament..When S Africa gave ups its nukes inspectorswere invited to see them dismantled..Saddam cant even gaurantee the safety of inspection aircraft..Just yesterday,Hans Blix reported to the U.N that Iraq has not accepted disarmament and continues his game..What more do you need......

Yup, it's time we took on all nations who have prove willing to use atomic weapons of mass destruction on civilian targets/military targets in civilian areas.

Oh, hang on, better not 'cos that's just us.:)

Seriously, kill 'em all, let God (Joe Bob) sort 'em out.

As for US sorting out the UN's problems, that's kinda defeating the object of having a UN really isn't it?

It's just the big boys spanking the little fellas, it's fine pushing them until they push back, mogadishu anyone? you can't take on a terrorist state, it just makes them angrier and more fanatical, I mean what are we after? "oh hang on, they've started bombing us again, lets not be terrorists any more". It won't work. But that's not what it's about is it? if it's economic: fine, if it's revenge/punishment: fine, but just come out with it. Instead of "he's got 140 unnacountd missiles (and we know this as we sold them to him) and some nuclear research (he downloaded of the internet" can't we just say "the man is a tw@t, lets get him", he's done enough to justify it.
