Robbo....I love you
The whole PGI 'I wanna see myself' topic has been dragged and dragged and dragged through the hedges so many times recently it's beginning to get a little boring but it's nice to see some varied opinions spawning out of it. I usually say "shut up and write about it and maybe you'll get the mention you soooo desperately want" to guys that moan about it but I've tried to look at it from a different perspective and can see some of the issues at hand. I can't argue against the whole attention thing 'coz our team just love that shiznit BUT we don't ever EXPECT to get attention, we just try to big ourselves up and have as much loud fun as possible. After all we are part of an up and coming EXTREME SPORT which is begging for us to move away from muddy fields and weekend warriors and start acting like we are a part of it, otherwise we'll all get left behind.
Like I said about the organisers; THEY need to get involved more. One or two aint gonna work wonders alone but if a handful get together and start some bigger and better events then we're well on our way. The indoor was pretty well organised and was all in all a good tourney but what you said about the price and how much the teams put into it to enjoy it....well, we can do better can't we.
My blunt opinion is that there is some talent in the UK scene but when it comes to the real BIG events we seem to bottle it and choke, which sucks ass big time. I don't see why we don't relish the thought of playing the yanks and the top Euro teams, we look forward to that kinda challenge. We got destroyed by GZ at Campaign but loved every minute of it and learned looooaaaads. If you lose a game it don't matter as long as you take something away from it with you. I think this is why a lot of teams are really protective over the smaller event coverage; they can't see themselves getting anywhere on the big picture and aren't excited about taking a few GZ players or gogging a 'Lanche player or even being bunkered by LaSoya. We all gotta treat the sport like we wanna be treated ourselves if we want to get anywhere in the long run. Stop beating down on the big things and start learnig and having some respect.
Robbo. You make me write long essays dude.
