I think that this is the most important thing. It doesn't matter how you dress it up, because in most people's minds it's war. They will always think of it as playing war. How many of you guys have never been asked if you use: Grenades, mortars, flame-throwers etc in a tournament.

I think that we just have to except that untill people have actually seen tournament ball it is like war in their heads, no matter what we call what; eliminations/kills, guns/markers adn all the rest.

That's my opinion and experience anyway

My PGI arrived today :D

Yup, true, dat.
No way around it, unless we all wear pink from now on, hm????

We need televised events of the "storming the castle" standard.
Y'know it's clearly a sporting event and not just a few lunatics playing in the mud surrounded by eight foot high builders nets.

Anyway, paintball replaced by laser tag???
I play both, both cool, both different.

laser technology just isn't comparable to paintball.
A laser which can fire straight and visible and register an encoded hit without causing retinal damage just doesn't exist.
A laser is just light- so it's very, very fast- it hits you before you hear it and if you stick your head out, your hit- no dodging.

Just think, last time you played quasar or a video game with a light-gun. Almost every shot is a hit.
Would we artificially limit fire rates? 'cos a laser can fire until the battery runs down--- makes for los of sitting behind barricades- no point running either, just aim at the player and he's hit!!!!! no firing in front required, a laser is just too fast and straight.

Before anyone asks- laser tag/quasar etc just uses red lasers for cosmetic effect (it's just for show)- the actual hit is registered by an IR signal. just like your TV remote. It hasn't got the range of paintball and it's invisible, therefore it would be extremely easy to cheat.

having said that, have you seen Starship Troopers?????
If it ever get's like that then i'm there.

Don't here of that many incidents involving paintball guns inthe media though, here's hoping it stays that way.
Too right, just look at the injury rates for other sports, and that doesn't include the ones in which the whole aim is to damage your opponent.
Oooh paintball, you can't shoot at people, it's wrong.
What about boxing? nah it's ok gentlemans sport donchaknow.
Chin Chin.

I'm refering to the general image of paintball- it needs to be stepped up a notch.
were you at S****horpe? in the Arena.. that looked great. Or at storming the Castle- 6 metre netting, great fields, people were coming to see what was going on because it was so impressive. Seriously, i've been to tournaments this year where the trade stands have been shot up because of nets lifting in the wind. It's only a matter of time before someones got more to worry about than their car taking a few hits.
