Ionbadger speaks wisdom
I think Ionbadger has hit the nail on the head.
What the main problem is that no-one is willing to invest money to do the general promotion that we seem to need. Soo... why not some kind of PGI sponsored website which serves as an impartial wealth of knowledge with regards to paintball. What do I need, what different types of play are their, etc, etc, etc
Their's enough talent within this forum to make such a website, and for a few boxes of paint or something I'm sure a few of the IT / webdesign students here would come up with a cracking looking website all under the PGI banner.
I mean a lot of the information is here in the form of sticky's or posts.. it's just a case of making that information into a clear no jargon sub-website of the PGI one?
Websites are relatively cheap and easy to maintain when compared to other forms of marketing, and are easily promoted to most.
Ok... I know this thread is mainly about tournament play.... but I think the website should divuldge into promoting and informing about all aspects of paintball including scenario play, woodsball, that kind of thing.
It would discuss different types of starter equipment, minimum requirements for walk-ons, tourney play, rules, legal jargon, etc.
I myself learnt most of what I needed to start out by this forum, and I mean frankly I didn't even know what equipment I needed to meet minimum safety requirements, I just had an enthusiasm to start better paintball than punter sites had to offer. And spent many an hour on this forum gaining info.
As Ionbadger said... just my 2p worth...
