mate, an M16 has just as much recoil as any other assult rifle that fires the same ammunition, the whole thing about the fact that m16's are lightweight and therefore have little recoil is just bullsh*t (sorry ;) )

Now your getting into symantics LJ... suffice to say that by the use of the word virtually, you implied that there was close to no recoil.

argh, i give up, i also didnt say that because they were lightweight, this makes it have less recoil...

Hmmm...well...without wanting to say who is right or wrong about anything...M16 (Armalite, or Similar AR15 etc) use propellant gasses to cycle the action in order to re-load and recock the weapon, as well as chamber the next round...this on its own, means the weapon will recoil less than a bolt action weapon of similar size and calibre....as to weight..the lighter the weapon, the more it will recoil and the less accurate it will be....
I have a .22LR rifle that I use for hunting, lightweight, semi target barrel on it...accurate...but not as accurate as my .22LR Match Rifle...this one weighs 14lb (the other weighs about 7lb) it has a heavy bull barrel and loads of wood on it...but it wil shoot very tight groups and good ranges...and its single shot bolt action...
However (regardless of the fact that .22LR has little recoil anyway), the hunting rifle is Semi Auto, so recoils less than it would if it were a bolt action, lightweight rifle...yet again tho...the fact that that you have a moving mass inside the rifle (on a semi auto or full auto) means that regardless of other variables, they are generally less accurate than their bolt action counterparts, which is why i can shoot tin cans at 800 yards with my .308 target rifle (Military Sniper rifle) but you wouldnt be able to do that with a semi auto version...say the old SLR Nato.

M16 have virtually no recoil and they were designed they way, they are super light and virtually no recoil...now a shotgun...yes
I have fired shotguns with solid slug, pistol grip ones, at arms length, one handed.... A shotguns recoil is a sine wave....obvioulsy it takes fractions of a second to complete...but it rises from nothing, and reaches a peak of around 200lb's of force..and then dips back down...

But holding a firearm in the manner we do paintball markers, I dont know...diferent stresses on the hand and wrists...wouldnt like to say...

Erm..as for the SAS are pussies...your damn right, but only they way many of them look...they generally arent built liek mike tyson...Paddy Ashdown MP, was reputably in the SBS which is our equivalent of SEAL's...But overall, SAS guys are hard as coffin nails...As for a SAS V Ballers..well, the SAS train to avoid contact with potentially lethal lumps of Copper and Lead...we train to avoid potentially point losing lumps of gelatin and vegetable dye..so there is something of a psychological differnce, which is why you would rarely see an SAS dude on a crazy bunker run....so yeah, you migh win on those grounds...:D
