Because under UK law it is illegal for ANYONE without a distribution licence and proof of end user certificates to import, export or sell firearms.

Planet would be guilty of exporting firearms to foreign nationals without end user certificates and Ledz would be put in prison for doing so. That I don't want ot see because not only is he sponsoring my team but he's a nice guy and I'll miss the abuse he heaps on me everytime I see him.

Importation of a firearm into the UK by a private citizen will get you speedily arrested. Something to do with being against the law.

This may have started off with good intentions, but can you see what I'm getting at. I could take 2-3 quotes of yours, send them to the newspapers and sit back.

Raw definitions in HMSO paperwork are bad quotes, Paintball Markers are Air Rifles and fallunder the same rulings under the Firearms Regulations because there is no seperate Law for air powered weapons below 6/12ftlbs.

If you want to go sort something out, go sort out the paintball pistols that fire at 300fps, because under UK law it looks like they GENUINELY do require a firearms certificate as they are shooting at the same power as a rifle but can only have "legally" half the ft/lbs impact. So if a marker with a heavy paint does more then 12ft/lbs at 300 fps what doeas a pistol at 300fps do?

Looks like all those selling the paintball pistols better be advising 150fps maximum limits.

You are confusing the term "firearm" which covers everything under the firearms act and "section 1 firearms" which is a weapon which either fires over 6ft/lb for pistols and 12ft/lb for rifles or uses an explosive to fire its solid projectile or a rifled shotgun or a shotgun which has a magazine capacity of 3 or more shells.

Yes its illegal to import/export section 1 firearms and you need a licence to own them.

But i am using the word firearm beacause that is what air rifles are classed as. The rules for those are different ie no licence required, free to import/export.

Again I am doing this so people are aware of the law. Its not my law I am just quoting it.

Your example of the pistols is a good one. How many people know they are breaking the law by having a pistol which fires above 150fps? Or that full auto is illegal? Or that you need a licence if your marker is firing above 330fps? I post this so people will stay within the law. A few court cases about illegal markers could be the death of the sport.

You might think I am an arse but I dont care. I ensured that Havocpaintball stopped selling illegal markers and thunderflashes to underage kids. So whether you agree or disagree with me then that is your choice. Until someone shows solid proof that I am wrong my views will not change.

This thread now reminds me of Monty Pythons Holy Grail where they are deciding whether the woman is a witch or not.

Quiet! Quiet! Quiet! Quiet! There are ways of telling whether
she is a witch.

ARTHUR and PATSY ride up and watch with interest.

ALL
Are there? Ah? What are they? Tell us. Tell us.

BEDEVERE
Tell me ... what do you do with witches?

ALL
Burn! Burn them up! Burn!

BEDEVERE
And what do you burn, apart from witches?

FIRST VILLAGER
More witches!!

Silence. A pause.

SECOND VILLAGER
... Wood?

BEDEVERE
So why do witches burn?

Pause.

THIRD VILLAGER (softly)
... Because they're made of wood...?

BEDEVERE
Good.

The PEASANTS stir uneasily and then come round to this conclusion.

ALL
Oh yeah.

BEDEVERE
So how do we tell whether she is made of wood?

FIRST VILLAGER
Build a bridge out of her!

BEDEVERE
Ah ... but can you not also make bridges out of stone?

ALL
Oh. Yes, of course ... um ...

BEDEVERE
Does wood sink in water?

FIRST VILLAGER
No, no.

SECOND VILLAGER
No, it floats! It floats!

FIRST VILLAGER
Throw her into the pond!

ALL
The pond! Throw her into the pond!

BEDEVERE
What also floats in water?

FIRST VILLAGER
Bread!

SECOND VILLAGER
Apples!

THIRD VILLAGER
Uh, very small rocks!

FIRST VILLAGER
Cider!

SECOND VILLAGER
Grea -- Gravy!

FIRST VILLAGER
Cherries!

SECOND VILLAGER
Mud!

THIRD VILLAGER
Uh, churches! Churches!

SECOND VILLAGER
Lead! Lead!

ARTHUR (forcefully, from out of nowhere)
A duck.

They all turn and look at ARTHUR. BEDEVERE looks up very impressed.

BEDEVERE
Exactly. So ... logically ...

FIRST VILLAGER
(He is catching on now)
If she ... weighs the same as a duck ... she's made of wood.

BEDEVERE
And therefore?

ALL
A witch! A witch! ... A duck! Fetch a duck.

BEDEVERE
Very good. We shall use my largest scales.
