Paintball - is it a killer?

Um, well said. I should convey my point more completely and less one-sidedly at a time. You are indeed right that it's good to look and is certainly good for all individuals to do...I at times wear an ultra suit out for such reasons. But, when I'm not, it goes back into the closet and awaits its next occasion for such, exactly as your armory of attractiveness serves you. What makes you, Liz, and guppy (among others) great is that such isn't the only means you have nor is it a preoccupation nor is it a substitute for a personality, intelligence, and knowledge of matters which the other gender can converse about. Sadly an alarming percentage of women in the world do use beauty enhancement as such.

Good veggie recipes? Sure, got loads of them. Would you prefer stir fry, potato, beans, stuffed zucchini, mushrooms, or pasta? I'm particularly proud of my stuffed zucchini recipe:

4 large zucchini
wild rice
a handful of mushrooms, diced
paprika
chili powder
pine nuts
rosemary
white wine
garlic
black pepper
diced calamata o
tra virgin olive oil

Cut the zucchini in half and hollow them out leaving about 1/4 inch sides. In a sautee pan combine the mushrooms, wild rice, chili powder, paprika, rosemary, a couple ounces of white wine, garlic, pine nuts, and black pepper and cook over medium high heat for about 2 1/2 to 3 minutes. Rub the outside of the zucchini with olive oil and a touch of salt. Add the diced calamata olives to the filling and stuff each zucchini half with it. Place the zucchini in an oven at 350 for 5-10 minutes, checking doneness by the exposed flesh of the zucchini turning golden. Top with freshly grated parmesan cheese, fresh basil if desired, and a little more olive oil.

Please try that one soon and tell me how it turns out! I have only done it once so I'd like to see if I need to tweak it or add things to it. I think you'll like it.

Now that I think about it I should also add my vegetable stir fry:

2 packs of ramen noodles -- boiled until separated (just as square breaks up but noodles are still white)
2 thinly sliced carrots
Thai fish sauce -- can be found at any oriental food market
2 medium zucchini cut in rounds
black pepper
a handful or two of mung bean sprouts (optional)
lite soy sauce
lemon zest
3 oz chablis
about 2 oz dried wood ear mushrooms
1 teaspoon of honey
Tabasco sauce
2 cloves of garlic
1 1/2 tablespoons of rice wine vinegar
2 teaspoons of seasame seeds
1 small diced onion
peanut oil

Add onion, garlic, peanut oil, and black pepper first over high heat and cook till onion just starts to turn soft. Add carrots and mushrooms, reduce to medium high, and cook and stir for 1 minute. Add the chablis. Add zucchini, bean sprouts, lemon zest, and soy sauce, keep stirring, (Duh, this is a stir fry!), then about another minute later add a couple shakes of Tabasco sauce, then the honey and rice wine vinegar and sesame seeds. Then add the noodles and cook till they are done, about two minutes. Stir up well and serve.

Guppy

I tottally agree:D As a whole I would rather get hot and sweaty and clense a few pores:eek: than be bruised up for a a week of two.

I tend to get them in the legs or arm so I wear my new rocks marshalling very heavy so constant work out:cool: but also really thick leather and padded motor cross style up the frounts:D

When playing Knee pads so at least knees are fit to be seenin public;)

Please don't take it the wrong way but mabey if it's more your playing than marshalling that gets you your bruises then some good critical one to one trainging with some one who opinon you trust telling you were you go wrong.

Real back to basics like how you hold your gun if it's right for you ie one of my little frount guys is fitting a drop forward for a tighter neater proflie. Being a 12 should help and being phisically active, I expect you have thighs of steel and great balance work out how to use these qualitys cause I bet most of your opposition don't have them. Also I expect you could do great controled focused agression.

GO girl!!!!!!!!!

To counter the problem of errr (how do I put this delicately?) ladie's fronts being unduly prodded and harmed in fencing - and if you think a paintball welt is bad, you should see what a broken epee blade can do to your arm, boys n girls - there are "chest protectors" that are hard plastic cups with padded rims.

These slide into pockets in the front of fencing jackets, but you could easily stitch a couple of pockets to the inside of your favourite site jacket/whatever.

I've also seen (don't ask) a 1-piece section that covers the relevant front part of the chest. <blush>

Have a look at www.leonpaul.com for kit - they'll usually send a catalogue if you ask them too.

This is a problem that female players have had for many years and there has been more than one solution tried & rejected. The plastic cup insert idea & "breastplates" similar to armour come immediately to mind, made of various materials.

Anything made of a hard substance like plastic a) encourages breaks rather than bounces (though guys tend to find it hysterical when a hard ball ricochets off at an angle:D ) and b) will have hardish edges however much you pad it which can get driven into delicate places by paintballs. These edges also chafe when you get hot & sweaty & have to contort your body into interesting positions to get into cover - this is worse in woodland play as you can get some very odd shaped barricades.

Breastplates even when made out of reasonably thin & flexible materials do constrict movement & can rub where the straps go. I used to showjump years ago & tried wearing a back protector (now mandatory for all cross-country competitions) & found it exceptionally restrictive & distracting.

Bear in mind that this protection is worn all day long if it is part of the underclothing & for up to an hour at a time if it's something you just put on for a game what with getting the rest of your kit on, getting to your field, finding out your game is running half an hour late then playing & getting back again. That's an awfully long time to wear hot, sweaty restrictive things as well as the rest of your playing kit.

Sadly after many years of looking I've yet to find anything that will protect this largeish delicate area (whole upper chest area) that doesn't significantly affect my ability to play. Also as Sparklie says, women come in all shapes & sizes with much, much more variety than men's delicate places have, e.g. size, shape, positioning.

protection & recipies!!

Onion, Thankz for the recipe Yes, I will try it in the next few days & let you know. However i have to admit that cooking is NOT a strong point of mine, but i shall endeavour....PS Thankz for the compliment!! Good to know i'm not superficial! My annual spend on makeup is appx £15 (one lipstick & one mascara...sod the rest!) My annual spend on paintball is phenomenal although i probably cover my outgoings by marshalling a couple of times per week, including petrol money!

Sparklie...I guess i get appx 60% of bruises reffing. I tend to get only a few whilst playing but usually larger & more colourful due to using our own guns and getting up close & personal! The site tippmans are chronoed at about 230-250 fps or less whereas our own are 300fps and some are well over (Russ!)

Buddha...Sorry mate but even paintballers have to eat good nutritious food sometimes. Read the whole thread - it's not all cooking y'know

guppy onions on a mission to reach the majic 1000 post so is toping up add two of three recipys sneekly increase your post count;)

I must admit I do spend on nice make up to date £17.00 on one lippy but it made me feel a million dollars and is a fab colour so worth every penny.

I have to agree with you when I didn't have the site to worry about and not had my clot scare I too got more bruises marshalling but then I also managed 6 months of marshalling every sunday and saterday with not one sods law. You take the good with the bad:)
