Lot of people talk about the lack of general public interest towards paintball.

And the simple equation of more public interest = more sponsorship rings massive bells.

The problem is you cannot see paintball as Joe Public. Its out of towns, or in warehouses, or in woods etc.

Has anyone ever tried to get permission to fence off a section within a town (town squares/public parks etc) and have a tourny with possible walk ons?

There are obviously numerous legal issues as well. I would imagine it would need a large amount of money to set it up and is most definately an event for the summer.

Would love to hear peoples thoughts or what happened if people have already tried it.

Cheers

a way to get more people inlvolved could be to get a company such as nike or addidas to start producing some kit

this would attract the masses , however i dont think companies like planet and dye would be especially happy

:D :D :D :D

only an idea

A couple of us once decided to run demo-games at Portsmouth Uni so we built a field (scaffolding and netting) on the Park between the Library and the Students Union

You have to have the permission of the Land-Owner (in our case it was the Council & the University) and must notify the Police so they don't send the Tactical Firearms squad round when people report gunfire ;)

The Police in Portsmouth were perfectly okay with it by the way :)

It should be noted that in the end we didn't end up running games because the new Student Union safety officer (on his first day on the job) stopped us. He actually demanded that any firing be against barriers made to full-bore rifle standards!

Facts mean nothing to Health & Safety Officers. They just think in terms of lawsuits

He wasn't actually anti-gun. He apparently used to do Target-Shooting himself (which is why he knew the specs for Full-Bore Shooting)

Just an ignorant jobsworth really :(

Erm, what about the Campaign Cup - held in the Crystal Palace international athletics arena for the last 3 years? Or the M25 series this summer which was held all in sports centres or rugby clubs etc - one round of this was actually in public parkland on the banks of the Thames. Or Heavens Gate in Bournemouth during the summer?

Or the Ashford International 5-man just a few weeks ago? That was also held in an international standard athletics stadium, with the whole of the population of Ashford & surrounding areas receiving details via a free glossy mag.

Not knocking you, you definitely have the right idea but there have been a few people on the case already. Trouble is it cost a fantastic amount of money to stage a tournament in a non-permanent place, with things like scaffolding and netting to be put up & taken down in a short period of time, staging areas to be set up often from scratch and the area to be left spotless within a few days after the event

paintball is VERY popular...
it is not as alien as some of you might think..
every one i know : teachers, mums, dads, friends
they all knw what it is.
i just dont think people are that intrested in it. they think its good an all but most people would just like to go to their local site one a year:D

oh and...
if nike did produce some opaintball gear it would only be tornument players who would buy it.

why would a punter want the latest preformance boots..
they wanna play around in the mud with their lil naff army boots like lil commando soldiers.........

OK THE ONLY WAY TO GET PAINTBALL NOTICED IS TO..

get huge posters up of pro tornument ballers doing class mooves.
make sure its sup'air or hyper ball!
never put up forest cuz forest paintball is gay!
on the posters put up top sites like:

p8ntballer
planeteclipse ect

then when they see the poster they will go on them sites and
asochiate with trni players (that means less commando freaks!)

oh and by no means am i flaming punters or commando ppl
i jsut think paintbal should moove on from that now..

theres an idea lets school children do it in there last year - give every1 a chance to get involved

even those who dont want to like those anti-social people who cant play any sport and would rather sit in front of a computer everyday and play counterstrike

(if any1 falls into that category my appologies on what has just been said:D :D :D )
