I heard that the values for the fantasy paintball are not based on anything other than pot luck as to how much you're worth. After all it's 'fantasy' . Would Hatts care to confirm that?

It's based on what type and level of ball you've played. So if you've just played a bit of rec-ball then you only get 1 point, but if you play domestic Division 1 and international Pro then you'll have thousands of points.

Hiyas sweetness,

as Liz says it's based on level of playing experience and tweaked a bit by how many years playing...we thought of tweaking it further based on age, weight, how good looking they are, how much they pay Russ or me in back-handers, that kind of thing :) but it we decided it just made things unecessarily complicated...

...some registered players actually have no experience of paintball at all and are new faces for the new season...hence the price tag of £50K...which makes them kind of wildcards...we've all seen noobs who rip it up from the word go...could be some rough diamonds out there that could be high scorers :)

Of course come the end of the season and ready for the 2005 players in the league will be re-valued based on their performance in 2004.

Hopefully the on-line entry will be available soon but that's in the hands of the programmers. Printed entry forms will be available from this weekend and in the mag before the first event....or anyone can call Gillie and send an entry in by phone.

The final list for initial teams will be based on the team rosters received by this Friday mid-day...any entries after this will be available on the transfer "market" after the first event.

Ahhh...this is going to be so much fun :)

err, may I make a small constructive suggestion. Surely if you've been playing for years, anything over a certain age should DETRACT from your value? Doubt you'll see many X-ball stylee moves from the +35's. ;) ;)

Also one other question, does the PA cater for say Mid-season signings, Transfer Windows or are rosters locked from the start???

There are team rosters and if you ain't on a team roster you can't play for the team, however, there are transfer windows throughout the season Glen

Thanks Ben,

although I still think my point re "player experience diminishing returns", is a valid one. :)

Also, and heres a bone for you, if (kinda a big IF), the PA is a rip roaring success, any thought been given to celebrity guest spots on teams (ballers or otherwise)?

I'd kinda thought about forming and managing an all girl team with Jodie Marsh, Jakki, Zoe 23 from London etc in (call it say Essex Bristols, and that definitely dosen't contravene PA rules on team names). You know become a big enough media draw and anything is possible.

And don't tell no-one else has thought of this, I mean Jodie's so PR hungry she turned up round my house for the Opening of a can of Stella

:D :D :D

Yeah we discussed that at some length, but without conducting an individual assessment on every player it simply wasn't practical, so we came to the conclusion that keeping it simple was best. It also gives rise to the question at what age do you start?

After all, rumour has it that Ledz (the "Cliff Richard" of paintball :D ) is pushing 30 but his experience and skill still put him way ahead of a lot of 20-something's & uber-fit teenagers.

There are no real "stats" for tournament paintball or players or any way of monitoring an individuals performance...although by the end of this 2004 season we'll have started to gather some.

The PA structure does allow for both mid-season signings and Transfer Windows for both the League and the Fantasy Paintball and there's a transfer protocol in place for players wanting to switch teams. I've been asked if the PA intends to impose transfer "fees" but we felt that wasn't our place to do that although some of the managers are already talking about it in an informal way if it should come about :)
