If the majority of teams get the feeling of getting less for their money. Then maybe one can predict that there could be a percentage of teams looking for tournaments elsewhere. Those teams could be teams that are in the middle of the pack in each division, with no real chance of getting to the playoff. I guess you still will have the best teams attending because they are confident in getting to the playoffs.

The bottom halves of the divisions will probably reconsider and choose other local leagues. Maybe like the Nordic Series(Northern European Series as of 2005).

The German leg of MillSeries is one of the best organized legs and if they put on an even better event maybe the reluctance to support the MillSeries will go away, as people see that the events are getting better. But we don't know that for sure so we have to keep on bitching....

I can't believe this is happening..............

First you cut the game times down and now cutting the games down all together to 8, This is only going to please one person and that is the organisers.

They might as well call the millennium series Get Rich Quick Series

How does this benefit the players/ teams?

We have 6 young guys joined our team and by all means they don't earn that much, how can up and coming players afford to better themselves by doing these tournaments if every year the price goes up and the game play goes down

A player's "union" will only work if it is independant, and as such has the power to force changes by threat of a popular boycott of an event. Do you think that the MS version of the EPA will ever tell the players to boycott something? Would you boycott your own product? Neither would I...

So, andybody that steps forward for this thing, even if they mean well, is to be considered a sellout, and should henceforth be bonusballed at every opportunity as punishment for treason...
What if we fix the elections?

We nominate the exact three persons we already have in the EPA BOD and add a couple more. Then we vote for them.

It is more or less easy to create the needed opinion among the different voting teams before Bitburg.

If our candidates can't control the new EPA (because we don't get three of them in), they resign and then overshooting ensues. On top of this, we bonuball Piper regardless the election results.

Any chance of an official response....

......from the MS?

I will certainly reconsider my intention to play more than the 1 MS event. Unfortunately my flights were booked for Amsterdam by the time this unwelcome announcement was made.

Don't get me wrong. I just love playing the MS. In fact, we have played only this series since we started playing (apart from the odd UK event), and we thoroughly enjoy it.

However, I think the organisers have made a big mistake with this particular change in policy, as can be seen from this board. The absence of a viable European alternative (at least for me) has, it would seem, made the MS a tad arrogant, and they have taken their customers - US -for granted.

How I wish that there was a 'real' alternative that focussed on meeting the needs of the players.

Anyway, can we have a response from the MS please?

If you don't like it, don't play.

If you REALLY don't like it, start your own series.

The question is, will the millenium events sell out this year? If the answer is yes, then reducing the number of games was the right decision. More teams get to play. The price increase is also justified, as people are obviously willing to pay it.

I'm always amused that people think price is determined by what something costs, or what people want to pay for something. That's not true. Price is generally determined by the highest amount you can charge to sell what you have available. (Well, that's a simplification, but close enough.)

So, if it costs Millenium 1 quid to have a team play 8 games, and they've got 160 spots to sell, and 160 teams willing to pay 2,000 quid to play, what should Millenium charge, 2 quid? No. They should charge 2,000 quid. Some of that will be put towards improvements (otherwise other people will realize they can make 1,999 quid per team and enter the market), and some will be put towards profit.

That's the way free enterprise works folks.

I'm waiting for NPPL to announce that entry for Tampa will go up $200-$500 across the baord. They've apparently got people willing to pay it, so they should charge it. NPPL selling out in two weeks is an indication that NPPL priced the event very poorly - think how much more money they'd have available if they'd charged what people were willing to pay for a spot.

"If you don't like it - don't play"

Jeeez !

I'm SO sick of seeing that old fleabitten horse being dragged before the public again and again and again.

What's wrong with being a paying customer who is aware and critical ?

That some people actually truly believes that paying customers are not allowed to have oppinions and be critical baffles me completely..... it must be the same people that endure abuse from bosses, wives, etc. throughout their lives without ever taking issue with it?

Anyway..... the de facto monopoly MS has decided NOT to raise entry fees..... but instead make the series BETTER.... for instance by cutting the number of games...... and someone actually expects the paying customers to say "that's a FANTASTIC idea" ???

"global harmonisation" - give me a fcuking BREAK.... I would have respected the series saying "we are cutting games to accomodate more teams"..... That would be honest upstanding talk..... but "global harmonisation" ?????.... pray tell - to what PURPOSE do we need harmonisation in this area ??

There's nothing wrong with it. The problem is paying customers who confuse themselves with being owners. People act like they're entitled to something, or that they should be able to determine what happens, or that the owner is "screwing you over" because they charge more.

The whole presumption that there is *ANY* reason for Millenium to continue to provide 10 games is just stupid. There's no reason for them to provide 10 games - if people are willing to pay the prices they are charging for 8 games, then what they're doing is fair. You can play, or not, your choice, but it's not some evil act o the part of the other guy just because you don't get what you want for the price you want it for, especially when the market indicates what you expect is not reasonable.

Okay, I can see the both of you arguing in circles already...

You're both right.

Sure, the MS can do what they want, it's their series, and they also need to eat. Fine.
But the customers also have a right to voice their opinion of these changes. What if you went to do your daily shopping and everything had gone up 25%? You'd be pretty pissed too.

However, you seem to miss one thing, ChiTown. You say that what the market indicates is that the expectations of some are unreasonable. Is that so? Then how come most MS events have a tendency to not be sold out? Despite all their hype and what not, most do not sell out.

Would it make any difference to anyone if Millennium lost a shipload of money last year, have started this year with a gigantic negative balance and they don't want to do it again this year?

I didn't think so.
