There are also some very key peeps very close to the decision makers who stand to lose a WHOLE lot depending on the cut you're talking about. Except that cut may be regarded in the reverse way: NXL qualifiers accommodating NPPLers. Whatever the case it's probably just a matter of the numbers of teams allowed in or invited to join an elite league that is truly worth that name. My guess, which isn't nearly as informed or close to the proceedings as you are, is that both Nexus and Strange would make it in.

Que sera sera.

Strange will. All the NXL teams will.

OK, maybe this doesn't fit within the scope of this discussion (which Robbo says is an excercise in futility anyway) but which teams are the truly top ones in the world regardless of leagues or format? Some educated guesstimation must necessarily be employed.

Top 16?
Top 18?
Top 20?
Top 24?

If we move towards the lesser number then maybe both Nexus and a couple of NXL should not be in there. Towards the greater number then perhaps all NXL and Nexus, especially with Tony Perez included.

Turn it into a new thread...then retire to a safe distance.;)

Paul, for somebody who is as intelligent as you, it surprises me you don the mantle of Don Quixote and and get frustrated when you can’t spear the windmill.

Most aspects of the free world have this lineage of responsibility whereby the people who have the money and position also have the power to decide.
I think Paintball (in its present state of evolution) places you (personally) in close proximity to these decision makers giving you the illusion that you can and should influence proceedings.
So near yet so far mate; frustrating yes, but just as real as any man in the street failing to influence any of IBM's decisions, well maybe not that distant but you get my point.

All we can do is hope their criterion for integration parallels some of ours because I got a lot more to lose than most in all this if the cut line is too far down the NPPL league qualifiers in accommodating the NXL’ers.
Would kinda grate on me if some teams who play in the Super League next year (if it happens) haven’t invested one cent in the NPPL whereas I had put virtually everything.
I think perhaps you misunderstand me here, Pete. I have no illusions about the interest in my opinion nor do I imagine I OUGHT to have any special say. My frustration, both real and enhanced on occasion to make a point, is predicated on the lack of consideration for the general body of players. Nor does your analogy hold as no one in the IT and related businesses is required to buy or do business with IBM if they choose not to and that is not wholly true in this instance and that is the rub. This is Sport held hostage to the interests of business and while it is what it is that hardly validates the process or ennobles those in control.
If, in fact, this were a purely business model instead of a predatory power play you and Nexus would at least have a stake commensurate with your investment but in truth your "investment" has earned you nothing. However you shake it out any resolution only serves the general good by mistake or accident and that is indeed frustrating.

As far as reunification goes, why bother in my opinion?

I know the major manufacturers are having problems supporting both leagues, so why not just let them choose which league to support on their own rather than re-unify? Seems Smart Parts/Draxxus would stick with the psp xball concept while most of the others migrate to NPPL.

I'd personally love to see NPPL expand and grow while psp falls to a cfoa-level league, so maybe I am biased.

P.S. Hey SteveD it's Jim formerly of Embry-Riddle. Purdue paintball is a terrible joke with no punchline, but I still like it better here than at ERAU. Good luck with the new format.
