Just another post to keep in thread :)

I have a full length Shocktech drop on my Angel and I see what you are getting at Beaker, I'm with Rodders on this , in that "do you really shoot like that". Your pics just show your arm, where is the rest of you in a "real situation?" 'cos you did post a couple of pics showing how "not" to do it.
I previously had a drop on my 'cocker but that was a drop that you could also offset it (not made any more...long offset drop that is I know the Kapp dropzone is still made but that is short) I tend not to get hit on the arm or wrist...front of the mini reg yes front of the feed tube yes but arm no. It is all in the hands of the user, one of my team has a drop but reversed so it is an extended stock (I hate it but he loves it) but he likes to line right up and sight along the top of his Angel like a real gun...crazy to me but not to him.

Often the above points do make a bit of difference, but the thing I see in drop forwards is pointability, that is, the weight distribution they produce makes the gun naturally aim itself. If the balance of the gun is working for you, then when you come out to make your shot less effort is involved in aiming, so accurate shots can be made quicker and instinctively rather than with a delay. I have always used screw in tanks in either 88 or 114, so the best weight placement with those setups involves the use of a drop.

114 not necessary? Ever shoot a Shocker?

Mark - Roo.

I shoot like that about 50% of the time, it's abit "do and I say, not do as I do" :). I shoot like that in 2 main situations, one is where you are edging round a bunker and need to be as small a target a) in case you get "suprised" and b) in case you can get the drop on someone not noticing you come round. The other is if you are posted up and need to keep as tight a profile as possible.

Unfortunately, I can't get a great ROF like that - about 7-8bps. I can get much higher if I walk the trigger which (the way I do it at least) requires me to have my wrist higher and a more with-drop-like elbow out thing.

So on the break or if I play back I admit I don't play the ideal way all the time. But if I play front that's pretty much it.

While I take your point about where you get shot, but I would suggest you try it with a couple of mates on a sup-air field. I bet you'll see a difference in how far out you come round a bunker, and how annoying it is to keep getting shot at by someone you can hardly see :D.

I am not trying to say that any of this is gospel, just my suggestion - my original point was purely that drops are inherently bad for staying tight, purely because they force you to have your elbow out to get around your bottle. I hate them, for that reason alone.

Whether they are more comfortable etc is academic to me - like I said that's all personal preference.

Depends on your priorities really :)

every body in this post is lucky i have an 88cu in tank and exactally 2ft arms with out a drop i have to hold my marker strairt out and then mi other arm cant reach it so with out a drop foward before i got mi drop i had to hold mi marker with both arms extended so mi tank wouldnt be above mi sholder so i could shoot
so a drop was a mandatory so i could expose less of mi body

??? - you just use a direct mounting rail (Armie/Conquest/Max Flo)or whatever the AIR thing is called.

so it bolts straight onto the bottom of the grip.

Drop schmop

I used to use a drop on my angel which at the time I thought was ok and comfy until I realised that I was going cross eyed from my gun being right up in my face and half my vision was blocked coz I was looking down the side of my gun rather than through the top.

Also, by mounting on a 'geddon rail the gun is lower and is a whole lot sturdier and easier to control 'coz you are squeezing it into your shoulder and keeping the gun solid n' steady, whereas with a drop my hopper was above my head and my gun moved around too much. Oh, and most of the yanks go without and how cool do they look?? see Dynasty. Cool *******s.

Ok I talked with Rooster (hey you got your name back:D ) tonight and I won't repeat the words, only cos it would take too long but as more seems to be added to this thread I'll add a bit more in... In a thread elsewere Robbo said that the way he sighted was by looking down the side, and if most all of us are honest we do the same thing...if you look above you will have a feed tube in the way...yes the DYE sights allow for both eyes open target aquesition (spelling?) but it ain't happening to sight along the top....so the point is drop fitted or not you will still have your hopper high in relation to your head (unless you have a lo-rise) if you aim in the way the majority of us aim...ie down the side of the body/barrel.

The pics shown before don't show TWO people firing ...only ONE does this (show firing) , the other ..which is intended to show the "correct" way the guy is on the look out with marker across his body at a 45 degree angle loads of target area.

many, many ways

I suppose it's all down to how you as a player feel you need to hold your axe in order to play your best but there are always ways to improve your game and adapt to what more experienced players have to offer as lil' nuggets of advice. As I mentioned earlier I used to hold my stick too high which at the time I never realised until one o' my buddies from the Rushers pulled me up and said to hold my gun a bit lower. So I did. Then me main man Latham asked me to try my axe without a drop on. So I did, I didn't exlpect to like it coz I wuz a drop boy but now I don't know how I managed with a drop on. My hopper is now at head level, sometimes lower, and my profile has been sliced right down so I don't get ripped on my elbow like a frickin chump.

if I remember rightly Robbo made a few statements about how no-one really aims their gun but follows the line of paint, which is true. I'm finding now that I'm beginning to know where to hold my beast to hit certain spots, if I aint spot on I just compensate. As for the feed tube being in the way well you find yourself looking through it and focusing on your target rather than focusing on the actual feeder.

Oh yeah, I don't half look cool too. :D

yes some have good pionts on here, but if you know your gear and like it, then u know how to play and stay in with it. laters
