For co2 the rental is around £50+ a year, and the fill, or exchange bottle is £30. You get about 40 20oz fills from one big bottle, so if you go through 1 bottle a year that's £2 per 20oz gun bottle every year.

For air a dive bottle is £100 and £3 a fill, and you'll get around 10 fills from a 12L. So to get 40 fills, you need to fill the dive tank 4 times, that's £12. If you just use that in 1 year it's 40 into £112, just under £2.50. But the next year it's 40 into £12 which is 30p per fill.

I've not costed fill rigs or gun bottles into either setup.

So in the long run air works out cheaper.

Mooching round the 50, with the flag
just seconding what these guys have said about using co2, can be very tricky and you MUST know what you're doing with regards to filling, I used to marshall at a site where a new guy went to fill a tank, it took us a while to 'free' his hand from a frozen bottle as he'd forgooten to put gloves on whilst filling.

On the Air front a 12l 232bar kept me and mate going for most of the day on 1.1 and 1.5 bottles (rec balling) you can pick up an intest dive tank for as little as £60-70 and a fill rig for a dive tank (make sure it's the right fitting) runs to £40-£50.

My local dive shop (I'm sure you have plenty in cornwall) fills for £1.50 a time though once my dive club's compressor is up and running mine will be free.

A small compressor capable of filling a bottle to 232 or 300 BAR is going to be a couple of grand and you'd still need a dive tank.

Why don't check out any of yoour local dive clubs to see if they can sell you an old tank, just make sure it's in test

You've got to be very careful with high pressure air.

This is what you should do. Think first, then think again, then have another think, then when you're sure it's all correct, think again. Then get someone else to do it.;) :D :p
thats what i do due to the extreme noises the air tanks at my local site make (makes for much browning of ones pants) and i get bitched at every time i mooch a fill off someone lol :D

New guy? We dont even let new staff in the Armoury at our site. I'm even a bit picky about which ones i let change bottles!

meh if it was up to me id just get my self thrown into tourny ball like a snowball into hell. thats what i did. ran at go ballistic with arms flailing. now i work at Fireball paintball gym bradford (25% off per person in july) *plug* and im on team Outbreak UK i dont even own my own set up. lol speaking of which anyone got a dm6 for fixing... ill happily take it off to erm.. "scrap" ;) . dude filling tanks is dangerous like it has been said. get experience from a site first. im all for a random muck about in the woods but make sure that everything is safe. masks on etc. the woods are well signposted as a live fire area and that you know what your doing with your tanks. not too sure how you refil co2 bulk tanks but grab an ion and doss about etc using a 3000 psi 0.8 letre. full set up 200 quid plus paint. and scuba tanks aint that bad an idea just make sure you get the knowledge first. will see you no doubt in a tourny soon lol.
