Does anyone REALLY think the NXL final was staged?
Comrade Loco, you are the kink of Conspiracies. What light can you shed on this. I know your links with Strange will not prevent you from bringing what could be the biggest conspiracy for years out into the open.

I's been there and done that already. The only conspiracy anyone is even vaguely serious about related to recent NXL finals is the failure to film 3rd place match between Oakland and Shock. And that wasn't really a conspiracy--it was a spontaneous act of opportunity.

As for Rancid's hypothetical I find that altogether believable if only because TV has different interests than Paintball but again, no real conspiracy.

I would almost be in favor of any sort of NXL conspiracy the principals could muster 'cus it would indicate they were doing something. As it stands it appears more a simple confluence of so-called deadly sins; you know, sloth, avarice, etc.

I do. The finals games were really dull, much better action in quarters and semis.
It looked like Strange were not even returning fire..just sat in there

Sorry to disappoint you Sherm but I can assure you Strange did everything in their power to win but for whatever reason simply didn't bring the same level of play to the finals we had in earlier rounds. I will also say numerous leading figures in the NXL were equally disappointed, not perhaps in the outcome, but that the quality of play on display and the excitement of earlier match-ups wasn't duplicated in the matches that were filmed. There's a lot riding on this ESPN business for all the NXL peeps.

I read on 68 Caliber that ESPN had nothing to do with the filming of the NXL game, that it was entirely funded by the PSP/NXL. It also says that the TV space was also completely bought.
So if we add this to the equasion, then they broke the bank to film a game that was in essence disappointing, compared to the games that had been played in the prelims.
Seems like all the eggs were in one basket and they made an omelette that the customers may wish to send back to the kitchen....

If 68 Caliber guys said it, it must be true. I believe the PSP/NXL financials pass through their desk for approval.

PSP did not spend one dime on the production or on the airtime. That's an absolute fact!

Are all of you insightful postings and opinions based on such well-investigated and established fact?

And who are the customers of the ESPN TV show? Based on your remarks, the PSP are the customers, as they paid for it. Are the 68 Caliber guys hired as the taste test guys for PSP as well? Did they decide the omelet wasn't worthy?
