quantity of paint shot DOES NOT equal profit.

Realize that the NXL teams aren't paying for the paint they shoot (I realize that some of them ran out of sponsored paint at the end of the year). Most if not all of the Div 1 teams aren't paying for their paint either. That is alot of paint where the promoters LOST money. I belive it was also more expensive for paint vendors to have a trailer at the PSP events as opposed to the NPPL events so that makes it more expensive right off the top to show up to the PSP events.

Allegiences??? of course! Do you think that DYE or Shocktech or National or Smart Parts would go and set up their huge displays for an event they do not support? It's just like how WDP doesn't put up their massive display at the PSP events. They have a few things for sale and a tech area. National did what WDP did, they have a tech area for timmies but they did not bring their big display and girls.

Funny thing is National had their large Empire booth at the Miami NPPL, maybe times are changing?

For the Love of God!

Ok guys, I have been very sick and am working on the Wrap up of the Annual Meeting, I apologize for the delay. I don't have time to read all of this right now but I did skim through Baco's post regarding the party Wed. night. You guys kill me, you think everything is some conspiracy or something. We have a seperate meeting with just the Pro Captains held at 8:00 am the Thursday before each event. We've done this all year, it's a place and time for those captains to sit down and get briefed on TV stuff, give us feedback on changes they want, what should be covered in the general captain's meeting, etc. For this final event, as we posted on our website days in advance, we took those captains out to dinner the night before since they had to fly in early. Afterwards they were able to bring guests to the after-party. AND we posted on our website that several of them would be partying there if any one else was going to be in early and wanted to hang out.

Jeesh. It's scary how deep people look into all this stuff. We've nothing to hide.

Oh yeah, and I also picked up on your questions regarding reducing game times to 7 minutes. The idea to do this was because we would be able to still have the same number of teams, but reduce the number of fields to get into more venues. The reps at our meeting had no objection what-so-ever and said that very few games go past 7 min. anyway. Some even thought all games were already 7 min :) We were unable to get some venues last year because of how many fields we needed, now that we can reduce that number of fields but still accomodate the same number of teams, we can re-approach those venues. Not rocket-science, not some super sneeky way of trying to squeeze as many teams in as possible, etc. etc. Give us a break guys!
And Baca, you know to just e-mail me with your questions and I'll reply. It's too difficult for me to do my job and try to stay on top of all the forums at the same time.

Peace and Love guys, hope you enjoy your Holidays...

Actually now that you mention it I do remember seeing that they had something set up. I didn't get a chance to see it or any of the other booths or displays. my apologies. I'm sticking to my main point though :)

No problem :) It would have been crazy to see Smart Parts or Dye there!

Thanks, C. Hope you're feeling better.

1--I won't belabor the party as it was merely an example I figured few people had heard about. (Though I note you say Chuck covered the dinner but said nothing about the club or the fact that access was, apparently, restricted. :D ) My point to O.C. and others was too many teams and players have, by my reckoning anyway, a skewed view of the whole tourney scene, what they ought to expect, and the fact they should take a more active role in the whole process.
In O.C.'s particular case he seems to be blindly trusting while many others are apathetic and neither condition is in the players best interests. Nothing against the NPPL at all as you guys did a great job in your fresh start season and provided all players another opportunity. Even so, a players league requires participation by more than a clique of the usual suspects to be its best.
2--the proof will be in the registration pudding then. ;) (But then don't you lose revenue from sponsored fields 'cus there won't be as many?)
3--I know you will, Camille (and always have before) but so much of the general playership is so docile and passive they need the occasional smack upside the head. Sometimes that means I say intentionally provocative things to get peeps thinking--hopefully.

If it's any consolation at WC this year Lane was hoping for an excuse to tow my car so at least I'm an equal opportunity nuisance. :)
4--right back at ya.

Baca being intentionally provocative? Perish the thought

I agree that most of the players are pretty apathetic during the season, let alone during the off-season. NPPL seemed to be pretty good about trying new things our (5 game finals?) and adjusting on the fly to the feedback they got. Hopefully if things don't work out with the 7 minute games, the league will make adjustments.

Fewer sponsored fields may cost them some revenue, but it may also reduce costs by having less to setup and needing fewer people (refs, cleaners, etc) to staff the fields.

[paranoia] if there was a conspiracy, do you think they'd tell us about it on here? Unless the cow is in on it and trying to throw us off.... [/end paranoia]

:D :D :D

PS - Feel better C!

I think Baca was trying to open a can of worms that wasn't there. It's his job as a writer I guess. Anyone want to bet that he will make a big deal about it in his section? I hope that since now they can now save some space they could come back to jersey. Hopefully the weather wont be as bad...
