I didn't condemn anyone to the gallows. I just said that any respect I had for the person was lost. I was under the impression nobody in these parts cared who I did or did not respect anyway. ;)
But what I find strange is that you lose respect for someone while you don't know for sure what happened. Makes me wonder how you would have reacted had it been someone you got along with better.

I must whole heartedly disagree with you that a coach who lets the officials do their job is a loser. A coach who sullies the image of our sport is a loser. And I didn't mean to imply that acting was ok if you were willing to accept the penalties, I meant to say that if coaches look at the situation and think the penalties are acceptable, the penalties are not strong enough. Whether in this particular case it was the penalties not being strong enough or the coach not even thinking about it in the first place (or both) I don't know.
Ah, but you didn't get what I meant. Problem here was that clearly the refs weren't doing their jobs. I for one would expect my coach to go ape**** in a situation like that (not meaning to imply he should start beating up on people, but at least throw a hissy fit of biblical proportions).

Chris,

Seems like you know everything, so please tell me what a person should do when the refs ain't handling the situation, plus they have no power to do anything serious afterwards? (as is the situation at the moment...) What is one supposed to do when it appears your team is getting one up the ass? Tell me that.

In this instace Raehl entirely correct. The rules committe writes the rules, and have no, and I say NO other authority than that. In other words, they have NO authority to enter the field. Period. Can not argue with that! So Pete had NO authority what so ever to enter that field.

guys....can we all wait for pete to put across his side of the story. When he is back im sure he will explain...and then any comments of questions about the right or wrongness can go straight to pete and he can answer them himself.....instead of all this rumour and stuff...

thanx guys....

It's simple...

Whatever the details of the situation are, Pete shouldn't have been on the field, and the only reason he was on that field was self-serving. Pete only saw fi to enter the field of play when he felt like it was *HIS* team that was getting screwed over. If that's ok, every team should try and get someone on the rules committee to "fix" it when calls don't go their way.

If it turns out that Pete is an EMT and someone on the field was injured, then I stand corrected. Otherwise, I really don't see any spin or revision of events to make it 'ok', unless of course it's the typical "It happens elsewhere in paintball" BS excuse.

Pete is just another example of "People arn't following the rules and it's total BS, except when I do it." Why is the reffing sub-par? Partially because of people like Pete. Putting yourself in a position to accomplish change is respectable. Discarding that responsibility because your immediate self-interest conflicts with it is not, and that's what Pete did. For all the lip-service Pete pays to how various people in the industry put their own self-interest in front of improving the sport, when push comes to shove, Pete's exactly the same.

Steve: Carry on demonstrating why you have no business running a league.

Nick: What Pete has to say about the situation when he gets back doesn't matter. He screwed up, regardless of excuse, and I don't need to wait to hear what his excuse or story is especially considering that of any version of events, his is the least likely to be objective.

And at what point did I say otherwise?

How the f.ck do you know what Pete did? Unless you were standing on the sidelines at that game and were watching what was going on, you DON`T know what Pete did. For all we know it´s all lies, and it was actually Santa Claus that entered the field and they all had a group hug!
Until we get some eyewitness reports or some videofootage, this is all just hearsay.
And once you have that, and it substantiates what you THINK you know, flame away, but until then, stop being an arrogant knowitall P.O.S.

Planet Piper away from you freaks!
Hopefully this will help in clearing a few things up.

I have just got off the phone from a very good friend of mine who I trust to tell the truth in matters like this. He has seen the video and from what he saw Pete did only one thing wrong he walked on the field.... however he did ask a judge before he went on the field and the judge said it was fine for him to come on the field. So if blame is to go anywhere then part of it must fall at the judges foot for letting Pete on the field.

My freind also said he has spoken to Pete and he is fine no broken bones at all. So I would like to say can we please stick to the facts and for those of us not in the know then please wait till Pete comes home and let HIM tell you what happened. That is if he even wants to say anything.

Thanks fellas

Piper

totally agree,we should all wait until pete gets back from the states, and the rest of the nexus crew, then we can all get the truth about the incident, thats if pete wants to tell us.
all we know at the moment is information that comes second hand from someone that was not involved.
