We have all had problems with stickers on hoppers and pots looking like hits but i have NEVER had any issues with a hit being concealed by a clear hopper. This is quite clearly rubbish. If there are enough marshalls on the field and they are trained to a reasonable level they should never be in a position where they can honestly be confused. If in doubt get in and check the player. This is a pathetic rule designed to cover up poor inexperienced marshalling.

Welcome to the fun game we call paintball, where beuarocracy (sp) is what makes it better!

Whats next? Banning fade annodizing? Only certaing colours of markers? Get real people! We are the people that pay for the tournaments to exist if we want to use clear hoppers it s pur perogative.
No orange or pink markers from next season....

From my experience, another problem is players being pulled for 'hopper shots' when in actual fact a ball has burst inside the hopper and because the hopper is clear, even at medium distance this can look like full hit. Then you have players getting pulled for non-hits, obviously this is partially bad judging, but if you have ever judged a major league event you know its not always possible/practical to run over and double check what looks like a HUGE hopper hit from everywhere else on the field when some other guy is doing a bunker run thru the middle etc....Agreed if you have enough experienced judges, in the right places, it shouldn't happen.....but it still does cos thats pball, so why not just eliminate the issue?

Clear hoppers make judging hopper calls harder than it should be...You say you pay to play, you pay also for good judging and the judging will be better if less time is spent having to point blank check ever hopper call incase a wrong call is made. I don't get this 'hey its our right to use what we want' crap, its for the good of the player at the end of the day....having a player pulled when he wasn't hit could cost you a game, the semis, the final, whatever...:)

Anyone agg wouldn't defend a clear hopper anyway, its all about the smoke these days..or neon:rolleyes::p :D

Im just getting back to the game now after a short trip out of it, and all I can say is wow!

These new rulings are rediculous, and look as though they are trying to cover up for a poor level of marshalling. I know when I was in tournys, the marshalls were OK, but nothing special, but also quite lazy. This just looks like them passing on suggestions to allow them to stand around.

Marshalls should be ready to dive behind a barricade to any player on the field to do a paintcheck, not stand at the side afraid of being hit, thats just poor. There is more than 1 marshall so it IS possible to go in a check them, regardless of whats going on around you.

And about the markers...is that just solid colour, or does it include fades, since my marker is about to be faded orange to black.

And what would the ruling be if I turned up with electric pink hair with orange stripes, would I have to cover it up?

Hair...

It has to be your original hair as it came from the suppliers... If you bleach or colour it you are not allowed to wear it at the mentioned tournaments... Furthermore Toupés count as padding and you can only wear it in the Winter-season...

Regardless of whether or not a judge can 'dive into every barricade' to check every hopper with a microscope, the fact is bursts inside clear hoppers etc 'could' cause a judge to make a mistake in the heat of things. You judged many events yourself Philip? Game after game in the scorching heat, working harder than most the players? Why make things any harder for judges, even the ones who don't 'just stand on the side line all game' can make mistakes too......

Pinky-I better make sure I wear a hat in future, didn't know about that one
 :D
