a PIC is basically a little chip that you can program to do certain things when certain inputs have been activated, they are used in most electronic paintball markers.

you have some big problems with making this:

1/ you need a variable resistor linked to the trigger
2/ you'd have to make a whole new frame for a gun to do this

Which bit? This wouldn't be touch sensitive if that's what you mean...

I didn't mean for a one-off toole, I meant like if I wanted to 'sell' it to a company... It wouldn't really need a new frame, just use the grip itself for all the electronics and have the trigger touching something behind it rather that something above?

I would read the whole thread especially the bit by Paul Collie and also both patents at the top especially the second one cos SP ave gone and patented the trigger for a marker i think

I think what smart parts have done is abit like microsoft did and cornered the market with specific patents in SP case they have not got a patent for the trigger but the very idea that using electricity ie electro triggers using a battery power source to operate the firing mechanism which would with the idea that Azz3h has come up with wouldnt be able to be used by another company except SP or the company that does use it has to pay SP royalties and a initial fee to use what they are sayin is their idea in the first place .

So my advice to Azz3h would be to sell your idea to SP but then again would you wanna be inleague with the devil by doing so!!!!

Cos they are trying to corner the market and make huge profits on something that they havent designed or done themselves just cos they cant develope markers good enough to compete !!!

Pure greed and will kill the developement of paintball if they get away with it some companys have already caved into it including Bob Long i think who was if my memory serves me correctly was served papers by SP that he was in breech of this patent just before his team was about to take the X-ball field  and didnt fight the court case and is now effectively paying SP to sell his Timmys which will increase the price of his markers to cover these added costs that SP have asked for !!!!

Thats how i understand it anyway but on or two companies or fighting back ie AKA which do the Vikings are contesting the case i think they also tried to do it in the europe and stop WDP but it was thrown out due to there being evidence of prior art the only reason that they got it thro in the US is that the patented laws ansd system suck over there and thats how they got away with it plus also the fact that they have some dodgy characters on their legal team that have been done for patent infrigments before they were employed by SP but thats another can of worms!!!

If im wrong then im sure someone will correct me but basically it sucks

I dunno about if it is " PATENTED" but the bit that SP has done is in them saying ANY trigger that uses electricity too fire the marker wether it be by sound vibration or abit of string if it uses electricity to fire it then your up poo creek without a paddle !!!

Hopefully something will be done about it but it aint happening yet
