Being the geezer who invented mugging you've probably been waiting for my appreciation of the various techniques

In practice, I fear I follow the quote up top. However, the correct procedure for the muggee is to stop after you've seen one hit break. Let the ref see you ain't shooting back....

As for the mugger, try and stand on your victim's arm... that way he can't get his armband off and therefore is still fair game.

Hmmm...As much as I would like to be "nice" when it comes to head banging someone, there is a greater chance of a bounce (Even at that range) on the pack as opposed to the head. The main reasons we target the head area is A) more chance of a break and B) people are much less likely to turn and shoot back. And turn about is fair play. I expect no less from others...

All this talk of players turning around after they are mugged, don't you think this is a sad reflection on the stat of the game.
I mean if you're getting mugged and see the mugger at the last second, then by all means turn and try and out shoot them (if you can). But if you don't even know that they are there till you feel the paint hitting you, WHY turn round and try and light them up?
Is it because they've just made you look like a fool, is it revenge or is it a case of "if i'm quick maybe the marshall will pull both of us out"

Maybe i'm naive about this, should i be turning round and emptying my hopper on the mugger in the hope that even if the marshall pulls me and not him, i'll have put that much paint on him he might not be able to play the next game.

As for aiming for the head on purpose, are you guys STUPID:eek:
You're firing a little ball of semi hard material at 200mph from 3-4 feet into someones skull. Not all players wear hats to protect themselves, all it takes is one accident and we end up with a player in hospital (or worse) and "the powers that be" deciding that it too dangerous and banning our sport. I know people will get shot in the head from a distance but don't do it on purpose just to make sure that the player wont turn round.

Next time you're mugged ask yourself "would i like it if he turned around on me" before you do the same and hey presto, before you know it, anyone turning round will be branded as lowlife scum and told to sit out the day by the refs.

Thanks for reading this. Let the flaming begin:D

Alien,

I am with you on this one, Being Hit in the head hurt and you can get some really nasty swelling.

But the state of the game at certain levels is that of "push" the limits of the game.

If you can stay in DO.

I have played a few tourneys now and most people have been fair and just in their playing and have not had to worry too much. When I see some one make a run I must admit I am fully hyped up and my sense of what to do can waver (not when I am hit, I walk) but i see some one run i don't think Ohh 2 for the goggles i just keep my trigger moving Its not point blank and people tend to have no doubt they have been hit.

I agree with Alien. There is definainately no point in aiming at the head when mugging. It is a smaller target then the back anyway, surely it's better and easier to shoot the back until one breaks rather than aim for the more difficult and dangerous target of the head. I have been hit in the back of the head from a few inches away just with one ball and about 260 fps (it was indoor) and was dizzy for a few minutes, imagine what 300 fps and multiple shots would be like.
Problem with playing on has multiple roots:
1. There are not enough experienced refs out there (all refs should have undergone some form of training (A good player is not necessarally a good ref))
2. There are often not enough refs.
3. Too many teams think pushing the rules is the way to play. If the rules for playing on were more forcefully enforced then less teams would do it and the teams that did would be looked down on by others as the odd ones out. How about at the end of every game review naming and shaming any player who (noingly, its crap if you get done for playing on with a gun shot you didn't even konw about) played on or wiped.

I for one would prefer to pay a bit more for events if it ment more marshals and the fact the marshals had been trained.

Sorry for such a long mail.

event organisers, have enough trouble getting the marshalls they do... lets face it the pay aint great, they have to put up with teams/players, shouting at them, telling them the decisioin stinks, that they dont know Jack,.. and as many marshalls are PB who would not rather be playing...

I agree there is the need for better trained marshalls
