i dont think 7 man is boring.

just the way the fields were set up in miami sucked. nppl field was BOOORING.

but the milleniums fields have been good imo

a little thought into the nppl's fields might go a longway. in jawwbreaker 5 the justice guy seems to think we are behind the times with fields. but that nppl miami field was s hit.

Yeah, I've seen ****ty boring XBall games and ****ty boring 7-Man - I don't think tha '7-Man is boring' angle is valid either. By and large, Pball is boring to watch - good fields and good players make a bigger difference than format IMO.

right on teej.

i was at round sancherrelli's house a while back, and all that he does is watch pball dvd's. they are ok once or twice, but he is obsessed. on the night liverpool won the european champions league he wanted to watch the traumahead 2k3 huntingdon beach dvd.

ultimatly paintball needs more nielson's to be entertainin for the masses.

More cheatin'
More overshootin'
More bunkerin'
More players who get a reaction (marcus germany 2004 semi final vs dynasty for example)

i dont wanna watch a game of paintball. its boring

but i dont mind watchin players gettin ruined with bonus balls, gettin cussed down, gettin penaltied, flicking off the crowd.

my 1,000,000 pence worth

Running 5-man as the basic format would be a wise choice for the Millennium Series.

Most minor leagues around Europe are based around 5-man and most teams around Europe are subsequently also based around 5-man.

It will create a much easier transition for everyone, if the same format is run at all levels.

Also, 5-man is easier for media and spectators to follow, which is also a plus.

Only thing I am concerned with, is that the X-Ball Lite format chosen allows a long enough turnover to allow teams to participate succesfully with 5-6 players in Division 2 and 3, as that is where we will then see a real significant growth from teams that so far did not have the organisation to play the MS.

CPL and Div. 1 can make a little greater demands, and should allow teams to run with 7-8 players.

I think it will be unwise to run full X-Ball in CPL and Div. 1 in the first season - we are already too close to Toulouse for many of the teams to gear up for that.... start slow and build from there.

And your resolve to embrace the darker side of paintball would still be intact if I dislodged a few of your teeth for assaulting my players by bonus balling them?

Where do you draw the line of bad behaviour Kyle?
No doubt you would draw it up to the point just before I make your dentist rich.........life ain't like that mate....open up that can of worms and you got no way of predicting what may wriggle out.

Let's concentrate on glorifying skills instead of *******s like Niellsen.

...in one.....and yes Nick, I think the turnaround time will facilitate just that, it would be stupid not to have sufficent time and I think the MIllennium guys ain't gonna fack it up now.

Well said; I totally agree (except I can't help but love Karkus 'cause he's so up-front about it).

A better managed, better trained and, most of all, much more consistent reffiing corps internationally along with the superior X Ball rules would go a long way towards bringing PB back to where it was originally designed to be as pointed out here.

Let's get SUBSTANTIAL control of the bad behavior and the overt, excessive cheating and maybe Markus will be out of a job. :)

I think there are two side to this.

Take Ice Hockey. Sure they are skillfull players and highly professional but the biggest cheers from the crowd come when the players really get stuck into eachother. Motor racing is the same.... the crashes draw people to it. It is the same for almost every sport. Its the Gladitorial aspect of sport that drives not only the players and participants but the spectators also.

I am not saying that we should let paintball degenerate into mindless fools hurting eachother but as far as spectators are concerned, tension, aggression and "characters" of the game are the things that entertain.

Every sport needs people that the masses can love and people that the masses can hate.

Finding a balance is the hard part...
