Steve you've got to get to the point quicker most people arn't going to read that post and those that do will forget how it started
Perhaps but it's a big issue with lots to consider. Simplifying it down to a sound bite that Joe blogs can be arsed to read doesn't do the problem justice. Anyway, people who can't be bothered to read post aren't really the ones it was aimed at.

All this talk about an alternative league is just pipe dreams.

The reason there is no alternative league, is that nobody has had the financial opportunity AND the inclination to do it yet... and when they haven't yet... why do it now?

I believe that not a damn thing will happen to change anything, as long as there is no team/player organisation to submit the appropriate pressure on the promoters.

Apparently - most players and teams out there don't really care enough to get it done - even when presented with the option :)

And to answer Chicago: The reason there is a vast difference between running a team/player organisation and running your own league, is fairly obvious: "time and money". A team/player organisation can be run fairly easily, using the wonders of the internet, and at very little cost.... while running a series of major events, is a whole different animal - as well you know.

A team/player organisation MAY one day turn into a league, if the requirements of the players are not met by the promoters - but let's not complicate things too much at first eh ? ;)

Most teams LOVE the Millennium Series in a general way - that is to say, we LOVE going to major events, meet all our International paintball friends and shoot the crap out of them - and then get pissed sunday night while wondering why all the Charms girls have boyfriends ;).... and all we want in return for spending all our vacation time and putting most our money in the pockets of the MS promoters, is to be treated fairly and with respect.

That is not happening at the moment - and although players are STILL lazy loudmouth fcuks, that would rather spend 100 hours bitching on the Internet, than 1 hour joining a team organisation.... we are rapidly nearing the point where that may change.... all it takes if for some of the high profile teams to back such an incentive, and loads will follow.

Nick
Nick - normally, me and you agree on most things but when we do fall out it is gonna be for something like this because the above statement is so arrogant and irresponsible that it beggars belief.
Now, listen up Nick, just because people haven't been in touch with you and asked for your counsel on the viability of setting up in Europe doesn't mean it doesn't happen elsewhere in the paintball universe.
It's not a pipe dream, if it were then I wouldn't have had (in the last 12 months) two separate conversations with two 'extremely' serious parties with regard to setting up in Europe.
I hasten to add, these guys called me for my opinion and I gave it, at this time I have nothing to do with either party setting up or planning to set up in Europe, let's get that straight.

To write off setting up a rival circuit in Europe as a 'pipe dream' is just damn ignorant Nick .... for obvious reasons, and if it ain't obvious to you at the moment, then think a little harder mate, you are a bright guy, it shouldn't take long.

If done correctly, there is money to be made in running a serious tournament series in Europe especially if the new series is open minded as to where it aligns ...... this last point is crucial.
In fact, far from being a pipe dream, at the moment it could well be viewed as a shrewd move bearing in mind the way things are going.

Nick, lighten up mate, the world of paintball doesn't revolve around conversations you haven't had.

I agree that its not a pipe dream BUT the MS are still in pole position if they choose to put their house in order do you not think? Currently they have the teams BUT they do not have them financially committed or contracted beyond the CPL (have THEY signed anything this year?).

The latest move seems to want to expand the tie in further down the line.

Robbo - your statement above should send shivers down the MS' spine.

Teams - organise yourselves, sign nothing and keep your options open. Any new initiative only need offer incentive to a select few for the rest to break ranks and sink their hard earned into the alternative. Any series lives and dies on those involved being prepared to pay. Pull the $ and the MS will be swimming with the fishes.

Where the player pays, the player plays. Power to the people.

Mark, I think all of us have ever wanted is for the Millennium guys to treat us like responsible people and to treat us fairly.
When I speak to the Millennium guys individually, they come across as at least wanting to do the right thing (yes - even Baldrick :) ) and as I have mentioned before, I 'was' getting along fine with Steve, Barry and Co but I think they really have underestimated the effect that ******* ulrich has on people and their continuance with his employment (and interface with their customer base) has well and truly backfired.

The Millennium guys will no doubt view my posts as a direct attack and will probably all now rush around with some conspiracy in mind where I am undermining them in favour or another interested party ... I wanna put the record straight right now, I am not in any way pulling any strokes here, I am not in alliance with anybody else, I have absolutely no agendas outside of wanting a fair and just treatment of player and vendor, I swear this is the truth of the matter.
And yet, even after I have given my word on this, it is the nature of some people to continue with a conspiracy theory because it is much easier to do that than face up to their own shortcomings and then have to do something about it.

The Millennium guys have also made a huge mistake in not addressing everybody's concerns on this forum and have chosen to stay silent but as I also said before, this may well be part of an overall strategy of not making any comment (and therefore avoiding getting dragged into it) and hoping it all dies down and goes away, which I have to say, is exactly the strategy I would adopt in their position.
And I would choose this strategy because I would be aware, just as they are, of the almost abject indifference most players and teams are when it comes to being ripped off or maltreated.

We might go through the motions of displaying displeasure but nobody actually fukkin does anything which makes it easy for the Millennium to defeat us with passive strategies such as they have adopted thus far.

My best case scenario for European paintball would not be as some people might like to suggest, for another body to come in as a white knight league but for the Millennium guys to get their act together and sort this sh!t out.
They have done a lot for our sport and I will be the first to say so but they are now taking the piss out of us and every day that passes whereby they don't even acknowledge their customer’s valid concerns, they take the piss a little more ... in the end it begins to grate...

Steve, Barry, Mannfred, Laurent, come on guys, it's time to step up to the plate.
And let me give you one word of advice here and in no way am I being disrespectful here or paranoid, don't come out all guns blazing with them all pointed in my direction, I ain't your enemy here, in fact there is no enemy.
In the past, you guys have attacked the messenger rather than deal with the points being raised, I will respectfully ask you guys to just concern yourself with the points being raised and all times, bear in mind, your responses are being read by your customers.
So please, no attacks, no bullsh!t, just a respectful set of answers, not too much to ask for, is it?.....

I see Scalp have commenced the retreat and are selling their spot

Not my favourite team ever (old rivalries never die), but smart cookies for sure.

Looks like they'll keep their options open and spend their money where they see fit, when they see fit.

Who's going to grab their offer? Who's next to sell?

The point to consider here is whatever Scalp want to sell there spot for, whoever decides to purchase that spot will also have to pay the millennium series nearly £4000 to allow the owner/name change.

That seems fair :(
