Millennium Series : Prizes for Novice teams please

I think you'd have to

Say that final series points only go to teams who have competed in all events...cos even if you said three outta five you could be in a situation where a team could effectively play the first three and be better off not playing the last two.

Tricky, tricky, tricky.

Having said that, the way things stand at the moment it's tha teams that play all the events that do well, so would it really matter? Does a team that plays two of five Millenniums really care about series points?

It does sound like a nightmare don't it?

There is merit in it all - even my suggestion of promotion tourney to tourney. My way you dont have to have a set no in a division and if a team misses an event they go back in where they left off.

It's definately a bit aaaaaagh as Niall points out!!!

But the time is ripe for a major change!!

Just - what?

But wouldn't it mean

No, it wouldn't. All it would mean was that either the 3 event team was incorrectly assigned to begin with or made dramatic improvements and as Goose and Manike pointed out with an averaged season score the appropriate teams would advance--as a general rule. The only way that doesn't happen is with one event teams and then the question becomes if you only attended one event is promotion/relegation an option.

Note to Niall--this would tend to drag out the process but might satisfy the organizers concerns over what would happen should anything like these changes be implemented. I almost hate to say it but what about a Competition Committee formed of organizers, reps from various level teams and whoever. Purpose would be to either talk thru these ideas or others or start clean and begin to develop both a long term goal and plan to reach said goal. Committee doesn't have power to implement but if it were made up of all concerned parties everyone would know their interests were being considered, the process itself would begin to reorient everyone's thinking and lay the groundwork as it were, any decisions everyone concurred with would form the basis for getting started and so on. Just a thought.

Okay so base the year end average score and on the best 3 or 4 results (like is now) so that one or 2 bad results don't completely trash your season. That way teams that attend more events aren't penalized but given incentive to play more - they will tehn have a "throwaway score"

Mark T - Niall's aggggh was his horror at being revealed as being lil ol moi...even HE didn't realise he was/is TJ.

Schizophrenia's like that.

He'll get used to it and then we'll be very happy together...

Ok, here's another idea

for teams playing mismatched or uneven numbers of events apply an end of season multiplier to results that provide bonus points for competing in multiple events--not a massive amount of points but enough to tend to weigh results towards teams more active in Series.

Dynasty get 1st, 1st, 3rd...work tha odds and decide not to bother with tha last two cos they got the series tied up!
The same thing could happen using the current set-up - but because it is only the top 4 scores of the 6 tournies they can play the 2 others without worry. That's why I say keep this the same - just average the points instead of adding them.
