I just checked Millenium's website and it seems 12 Spanish teams attended Malaga event and only 2 of them came to the the rest of the legs so far...
I know it's not as cheap as flying to Malaga to fly Antalya, but come on guys! Just stop being that pessimistic(like no refs coming??) and see the better parts a bit..Besides being a great oppotunity for paintballers having vacation while shooting paint, hotels are all inclusive which means you don't have to spend more money for food &beer:)
I think the money you pay for the plane tickets(which we pay a lot of more than that for every single leg:( )will worth it..

Just leave the bad thoughts aside, Antalya can suprise you more than you think!;)
I can talk on behalf of all the Turkish players, we'll do anything to help you guys out, just let us know..
I know a few Turkish players and industry members. I have no doubt that you would be extremely welcoming and do anything you could for the visiting teams - no doubt at all.

However - How many people do you know that could afford 3 vacations per year?
Malaga - its expensive "but not if you treat it like a vacation"
Paris - Most people use summer vacation time to attend the event.
Turkey - 3rd vacation of the year?

What if people want a vacation with their family - should they book a 4th trip?

If people can't afford to play the event, and there is a drop in teams - does Turkey have enough teams to contribute, to make the event a success?

It's nothing against the venue or the people - all that is great, but if every event is supposed to be a 'vacation' in order for a participant to justify the expense, how sustainable is that?

Antalya event will be held in a 5 star hotel with a great high quality soccer field with superb grass..

Normally soccer teams organizes their pre season camp there..

And the price is about 45-50 euro and all inclusive..

I believe that this will be one of the greatest event in the Millennium history and Antalya will become a permanent event of millennium..

For those who want to organize their flight now.. Easyjet from UK is a great option.. We will book our ticket from there for UK event.
Is this in the same 5* hotels 50m walk from the site? Their websites are currently giving room rates at 300 eur + per night, with breakfast included!

In fact, the only resort hotels with deals like that I can find are 4-5 kms away!

Don't forget that budget airlines often refuse to carry paintball equipment and will not load/remove it, along with the rest of your luggage if found.

A well known phrase involving eyes and wool springs to mind!

Im sure it will be great and I welcome the Millennium that they have the guts to try something else. Millennium events should all be special and in great locations. To both spread the sport and make the series a special happening.

Yes sure it would be cheaper to have all the events in Germany but how fun is that? Even cheaper would be to stay home.

I'll love to see how the american paintball community would react if the PSP World Cup was held in Uruguay this year.

And what about a PAL Series event in Stockholm for a change?

Bah, I'm french so I must be a stupid whiner.

Strange... Here in Holland we get bombarded with incredibly cheap, all-in holiday offers in and around Antalya. Seriously, for the prices some of you mention just for flights, I can get flights, hotel with food and drink and all the other stuff. During the summer season...
In October it will be even cheaper! Consequently it's a very popular holiday destination in Holland.

I still find it unbelievable that something that considers itself a major player can't confirm the location of an event until three months before the event is supposed to take place.

Either way, have fun to the teams that are going.

With all due respect mags not all teams are supported like the joy guys are, so may find it a bit more difficult to get the time or funds to play it.

and Germany at bitburg is just as expensive because of it being in the middle of no were and having to get a hire car or taxi.

I know trying new things is a great idea but it just seems a little last minute.com

Also to have an event and have free booze in a hotel with 2000 paintballers in it i think is just asking for trouble.

I see both sides of the medal. On one side it is great to have nice venue in a different country spreading Paintball all over the world. It is good for the image of the sport and of course for its promotion.

On the other side paintball is already very expensive in terms of travelling, hotels, cars, food and of course time/holidays we need to take to attend all the events and tournaments. Not to forget about entry fees & paint. From Germany flights are starting at 260 Euro stop-over in Istanbul. A direct flight is more than 300 Euro.

I heard that vendors are also not sure about attending this event in terms of costs and revenue. And a lot of photographers can't afford to come either.

I think one "summer location" per year is fine. But not two. A lot of the people that I know want to have a real summer vacation without a marker in the bag...

That's what I meant when I was giving the #of the Spanish Teams that attended Millennium; Spain didn't have enough teams fill in the empty spaces, but nobody was concerned about that before. Not talking about you, but I think some are just complaining because of the location.

Pls don't take it personally, I see your concerns and you got a point; I haven't been on a single vacation myself for 2 years(in other words since I started pb), and that's not the only sacrifice I made, but I'm not complaining, cos I'm doing sth that makes me happier than anything instead.

As I said before, it's totally understandble that most of you are not happy about this situation, but everybody's gotta give sth into this other than just playing I think, if you want paintball industry gets bigger and spread all over the world.
