(Pretends to be Colin) Tail end of next week at the earliest (stops pretending).

IMHO, the Mill. Series's current ideas on the concept need a serious rethink, but that's just my opinion.

This is ofcourse only a last resort, when normal polite dialogue no longer works in getting the players what they want...... but it sure would be nice for the players to have the OPTION !

Thats a long way to go, and Im quite sure when you get to the end of that way it will look different.

Of yourse you have to consider that sponsor influences will take effect in the decisions (like sanctioning MS) by the teams.

I think the way to ease the teams financial drain is outside sponsors. It will take some of the power away from event organizers but it will get them the much needed money.

There's been no official word on the the Pro League yet, I believe that there is still one more meeting that needs to take place, then anouncements will be made. Depending on the outcome of the next meeting, anouncements will be made. You'll hear it here on P8ntballer first, that's for sure.

I'm not really in a position to say anything concrete, of course i hear things, but most of it can't be repeated.

I can say this, there have been a lot of meetings with the top dudes from the Millennium Series, and the Industry leaders in Europe. They are putting a termendous ammount of effort into taking Euroball forward, not just following the yanks, but taking it some place that's right for European Paintball. There is a certain reluctance to give out information before it's properly thought through. The Millenium board really want to get this right.

I shoud add that i support Niall, but i'm not an official representitive of the Millennium Series. I just know stuff and have some opintions, that's all.

License to paint
Hi guys
yesterday when I saw the millennium news letters I almost laughed my hearth out!
I don't mean this in a bad way and I'll explain it :
In Portugal I'm involved with the organization of the Portuguese Paintball Championship (Liga Portuguesa de Painball) (43 teams :10 PRO 10 Ama 16 novice and 4 rookie;Ama/Pro 7 man - Rookie Novice 5 man) and the changes that Mill Comitee did were the same that we implemented in the beginning of this season ,and already made two events with them.

First the 7 minute question was very controversial , but now everybody realizes that creates a more offensive game. But the field layout should be well studied. The standard trend is fields with lower obstacles in the back (NPPL has shown lots of that) and for the 7 mins to work and promote offensive play , tall stand-up obstacles in the back should be avoided to create difficulties in defensive play.
In the first event , there were some draws and teams eventually became more agressive in the search for points ;)

The other thing that we did was also a ranking system for the marshall teams that we reward them for good work (or punish them for bad one). This is still in study and it is difficult to evaluate.

Also the Do no BYOP was implemented but players could buy paint from the stands present in the event. Since almost every brand of paint sold in Portugal is represented it is almost BYOP. The complaints were initially the same that I already read here but every one as agreements the their sponsor for paint prices so in a practical way paint prices were considerably reduced from last year current paint prices :D
I know that I'm talking at a different level (single country vs europe) but similar agreements can be made prior to millennium events.

Now the big discussion in our league is the number of preliminary games (8 vs 10 ; 8+finals or 10 with no finals - note that every games are played in a unique day ) and it seems it is evolving for the same here.

I won't bother you guys more with details from Portugal ; just thought to send some feedback of things already tried in this corner of europe ;)

Cheers
JAC

PS- the premiere league format is my main curiosity right now ...:)

It seems that these changes are decided on already,
So i was wondering if there is a Big PB company who pours as much money in the Millenium Events as WDP did with the NPPL ??
Or are we the players the only ones who have to pay for all the NPPLstuff incoporated in the 2004 MilleniumSeason ?

And why this urge all of a sudden to become an NPPL lookalike, or at least that how it looks to me. Was 2003 such a Bad Millenium Year ??

Not so long ago the US wanted Eurolike Tournaments now in a years time all of a sudden we are taken over by the NPPL ways of doing a PB Tourney ?
what the hell happened ?!?

Less Gametime
Less Games (?)
Event Only P8nt
Smaller Fields
More Teams
Higher EntryFees
Mo'Money
Less bang for your buck (?)

not so long ago here was also a nice thread about closing the Gap with Stateside teams
with these changes we make it harder for Novice teams and Am B teams to play 2 Mill events a year
So it looks to me all this will put a hold on Euros PB Growth and progression

Another thing people posted not so long ago on this forum
was the wish to having the events spread out more over the year so the costs to participate and time to play can be more evenly spread over the year as well
i wondered what happened to that option ?
