Around 100 of those teams, (probably more) would have played an event in the series before and would not need to but another card. that leaves around 400 players who would have bought cards.

Thats about £8000 ish for wages for lots of people and infrastructural aspects of the event.

Basically you have just said that us 400 or so players who have never played a millenium event before Campaign paid for everybody else.
I still think we all deserve a free t-shirt

Why would all the people who only played Campaign be entitled to more than the people who only played Portugal? Or Germany? Or Amsterdam? Or Toulouse? Or Stockholm?

Paying a fixed fee, whether you play the full series, or just one event is not that big a deal. It happens in many other sports or events as well.

You're already paying a fixed fee--it's called the entry fee.
Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't the ID's sold on their value to the players, not the promoters?
What's next, a staging fee? How bout a safety fee? Or a venue surcharge?

Having the EPA manage the cards is a good idea, just because it is an external body to the millennium and the promoters. However - does the EPA at the present moment in time have an infrastructure in place to make any better use of a player control system?

This takes a database of every player, his movements, every team, their movements.
Easy enough so far... someone to sit and monitor it before during and after every tournament.

Ok thats where the wages come in - Piper has his business to run, Moose will inevitably be an ultimate, and Mimi(?) will (probably), like the majority of the members be playing (or marshalling, and fine she looked doing so too! ;)).

So we will still pay the £20 for the cards to pay someone to sit and listen to us bitch about paying for the cards and enter us in the database - oh and the Millennium board will be without a few grands worth of money so they will have to claim that back from promoters, who innevitably will stick it on the entrance fee.

Now admittadly more could be done with the cards:

1. If you're gonna have security check cards (which I was several times at campaign) make sure they enforce it. No card, no entry. Otherwise thats probably 5 to 10k money you could have saved last weekend.

2. Have the field chrono judge check all cards all the time (however tedious). I know of more than one person guesting for other teams whom refused to pay a £10 transfer fee (which I think is a little steep - mainly cos I lost my card and had to pay this myself! )
If the player doesnt match the team, the team play with 6 end of story. If he don't have his card, they play with 6.

Now I would hate any of this to happen to me, but if you are going to have rules, stick by them and people won't mind so much about the money!

Just my millennium cards worth ;)

I think instead of scrapping the cards they should be used properly... Sat pm we were checked everytime at the bar end of the staging area but not at all at the other end. My card was checked going onto a field in about 5 or 6 of our 13 games. I think it should be checked everytime. Keep the cards make em a bit cheaper... say £10 and enforce their use properly.

Troggy - first off Moose has nothing to do with the EPA - I do and my nickname is Goose. Easy to confuse - specially since we are bith nicknamed after animals :) :)

Second
The EPA would love to have the registration system - not necessarily for next season - but maybe the season after - but we have been told in no uncertain terms that it will never happen. The I.D. cards are a source of income that the series needs to pay the support staff.

I had a nice long conversation with Karlijn (the MS secretary - and head honcho of all the support staff) and I believe that there will be changes coming to the I.D. card system beginning next year.

Stay tuned - as soon as there is more info I will let people know.
