hey, i just wanted to rise the point of people kicking off at marshals. I am far from the most experienced marshal in the world, have only been playing two years but i have marshalled around five tournaments, and time after time i see both when marshalling and playing, players kicking off at marshalls. Now by kicking off i dont just mean having a general rant, but being in your face' and aggressive. Personally i have been told after a game that a player was going to 'knock me out' and recently was recently punched (not exaclty hard or life threatening! but was done perposely and aggressively) on my shield as a player left the field. Suerly every paintballer expects bad calls at some point but surely acting like this is only making yourself look foolish?
It seems to me that more players need to spend i bit of time marshalling at tournaments so they can realise how hard it can be, and when i bad call is made tell the captain after the game.
But on the other side after recently marshalling the birmingham indoor meet some great teams with a superb attitude, it just seems to be the few who at times let the sport down with stupid behaviour.

oh that was far too long......sorry!

I presume in both instances you reported tha player to the ultimate and the tournament organiser and he was ejected?

oh yeah it was all dealt with, the field ultimate officially warned the player that anyomre misbehavior would result in him being ejected from tourney. On the other account the team were reported to the tournament organiser and were penalty pointed.

Dude - that sort of **** deserves banning. Until it's dealt with properly it'll continue - you punch a ref or threaten to knock one out in soccer and you're outta that game and looking at a serious ban.

Sounds like the penalties dished out at your field are too weak to discourage people...

i dont want to go into mass detail of what exactly happened as i dont want to get anyone involved, the penalties were suffiecent. Its ok to compare it with football but paintballers are paying a lot of money to play and its a bit different, i am in NO WAY whatsoever justifiying the actions of anyone who threatens a marshall, i see paitball as a high adrenaline sport and this can result in stupid behaviour. after the player has carmed down or speaking to the player at the end of the day, they can see how stupid they behaved and apologise. people just get so fired up they lose the plot. im sure everyone can think of a time when due to being far too fired up they have done something stupid.
i agree with u Tj that aggressive behaviour deserves banning but i dont want to start a debate on the quality of the marshalling on those two occasions as i do not wish to discredit any team or player. and anyone who attended the european indoor will know that the standered of marshalling was very good.

northy was that incident at the indoor?!?!?! Dude that was funny and you know it. I have to say that field two seemed to have the more aggressive teams and big up yourselves for making a joke of it all :D

Also on the point of teams being aggressive towards marshalls why don't organisers ban teams that are overly aggressive to marshalls?!?!? i mean they are there to do a job and usually in ****ty conditions so why should they have to put up with it?

[edit] See this post right here is one of the ones where you have only skimmed the info that has already been written and make yourself look really stupid by already writing what's there :p

im with tj on this one....if i were marshalling and a player threatened or hit out at me id expect that player to be on his way home.

but paintballers are paying a lot of money to play
that makes absolutly no difference at all.

EVERY player should respect the fact that marshalls are doing a job and they should command the same respect as the ref in ANY sport

dude i have massive respect for delta as marshalls. the fact that the kind of abuse you describe happend to any of the delta marshalls, wether it was to and in expeirence member of the team or not is simply "BANG OUT OF ORDER"....
as we all strive to push paintball forward as a sport this kind of childish behaviour needs to be stamped out NOW..

COME ON event organisers lets get this kind of SH!T sorted so as not to hinder the groath of the sport.....

noboby wants to play or marshall teams involved in this kind of ignorance......

thanks ian, sure the rest of Delta would say the same about your team on and off the field.
And to Mario yeah it was field two! did you see it? big up to your team u had a great attitide.
and....
Can people not just start saying 'if i was there i would have banned him'as at the end of the day no-one else was involved in the incident other than me, the player and the ultimate so its hard to say what you really would do, even if you see yourself as the perfect marshall. thanks.

I saw it mate......I was one of the loud-assed Outkasts players.
It was out of order but I guess people get carried away ,adrenaline and all.But I know for a fact I would NEVER physically do anything to a marshall or another player for that fact.

Respect to field 2/delta marshalls at the euro indoor.
:p
