Marker Buying Guide for Newbies

I bought 4 high ends in last year, 1st was a lv1 off a mate had 39k well cared for.2nd was a lv1 3k on it 2months old. Had a PE tech sort that one out and sold it, it was fiddled with. New ltd edition 3.5, put 15k on it sold it didn't like the colour loved the shot tho . Cs1 has 13k and still got it and first lv1 (100k plus) at end of day I trust that lv1 more than the cs1. What you choose as you're first marker is down to you but had I known I'd be in this position where I have the latest marker and my original one I would have donated the money I spent on the other lv1 the ground and cs1 to charity as I lost a lot
i will be going to my first paintball session start of next month super excited about it
i will be using site gear to get a feel for the sport to start off with
if i decide i want to become a regular in the sport this guide will help me out a lot
i know very little about gear needed to get started
i have already been looking at kit and markers and there is loads of stuff you can get lost in been new to it all
after reading this post it makes things a little more clear

A decent pair of goggles will be the best first purchase. Being able to see will change your day!
Great guide, exactly what my friend told me who's been playing years, i picked up an etek4 dye rotor and a fibre tank, last month played in caps and picking it up really well, moving onto a geo hopefully so the etek4 will be getting sold on, hopefully for a similar price as I've only had it a couple of months and never let me down
Great guide, really wish id read something like this before i got started a year ago, however mechanical markers have thier uses, they are very good in bad weather. Ive seen them keep going after a player has fallen and dropped it in a muddy puddle, when expensive speedball markers stopped working due to the rain at a big scenario. I agree electronic gives much better firepower in dry weather though.
Mechanical markers do have their place, yes. But they're inevitably designed to be hard wearing and, from a firing mechanism point of view they're ..... unrefined. I've never seen a mechanical marker shoot high quality paint (save for a few very well tuned cockers) without issue, whereas you can rock up with an Etek that has the same level of ruggedness as any mechanical marker with the ability to shoot brittle paint.
