Marker Buying Guide for Newbies

Excellent article, I was close to buying a package new from a local shop but when you take your heart/excitement out of it it makes so much more sense waiting and getting something far better second hand! I'm looking at a Dye DM9 at the moment, anyone had any e peri ends with one?
I have owned a couple of DM8s (have one at present) a DM7 and have shot most of the rest! Would happily reccommend a DM9 - nice smooth shooting markers and the frame is dead comfy in the hand.
Be prepared to look after it properly though - if you over-lube them, or neglect the maintenance they are not as tolerant as some markers, but if you look after them properlythey are lovely!
Thanks for the reply mate, theres a DM9 and a 7 in the for sale section, £60 difference between them, would you say the 9 is worth the extra?
They're pretty much indetnical - might be worth the extra for the 9, simply as spares are a lot easier to get hold of.

Really unsure about what marker to get. Really partial to the Planet markers and ran with a mini for a short time. I have been told that i cant go wrong with DM 9 or 10 but i just don't know lol.

at least in a sweet shop you can buy one of everything so you don't miss the best ones, wish paint balling worked like that....
Hiya, I'm slightly stuck as to which marker to buy i have a choice between an Etek 5 and a DM12 both second hand and in the £200-£300 range. Any advice?
Both very good guns, two very different platforms with a spool bolt closed system and an open bolt poppet marker.
If you can get a chance to shoot both or similar guns that try it.
As far as reliability/efficiency goes they are both very similar indeed many new players (or lazy players) prefer the reliability of the PE brand as you can get them covered in paint and mud, chuck them in your bag and pull them out in a year and they will still work, where's as some prefer the soft feel of shot the DM line provides.
If I couldn't try either and was just going on advice is take the DM.
