Now now gentlemen...play nicely!

km16... I think you will find that that what our lerned friend was getting at...was that once one person (not neccesarily you being the first) starts suggesting the imposition of limits/minimum requirements...it starts to limit the number of players available...potentially budding naturals...which is not good for the sport....

Tonymicjoe....You might want to phrase things like that a little differently...although he seems to be underestimating you (probably without knowing you) as an opponent.....he might be right...and you might meet!!!

However, when you see guys at a tournie wearing old camo kit, shooting an old Mag with an Autofeed hopper and 100 shot pots, I don't think you worry too much about that player on the field.
Did you ever meet Mr Drysden? AKA Fess of AFGM fame?

Still plays with his camo painted Mag. :D

ladies love kewl kid
there ARE some guys who rip the sh*t outta everyone with old fashioned equipment, but thats more on walk on days when some of the old school put away their "on the edge"gun for a moment and dig out their phantom again. i once saw a guy playing with a sterling on a woodfield three years ago. he played a crawler and eliminated about 6 guys of the opponent team. but i think, seeing this on a tourney is a really rare sight. i have heard of some french team playing a tourney with pumps on sup air against all the semis and went pretty far, but i really think it wont happen too often.

usually those guys who run up on a tournament with old mags and stuff are new to the tournament scene(they might be good rec-ballers tho!!!)and i bet if they stick to sup-air you will see them next season with loads of blingbling on them...

its just like that!

Saw just this thing at Heavens Gate tourney last summer. Team CQB were playing their first tournament. Most of the guys had site Tippman 98's borrowed from the team captain who ran a rental site. A few of them were only taking one 100 ball pot onto the field and some only a loader (gravity fed site loaders, not revvys).
No-one took the piss tho, the other teams got behind them and applauded them off the field. A few players lent them their own markers and packs to up their chances a bit.
When they were a player short a tourney player guested for them to make up the numbers.
When they won their only game it was announced over the PA and a big cheer went up around the ground.
Team CQB won an award at the end of the day for their great sportsmanship and were presented with an Angel.
It was the same attitude from experienced tourny players here in the UK, that helped me feel less like a noob and more like part of the 'commumity' when i started playing. :)

I bet that the team who they beat felt a little embarrased :D :p

Nah, if someone were to come to a tourney like that when they were obviousley not old hands, i'd most certainly give them a hand, just 'cos i'm a nice guy :D ;)

That was TIP, Team Internet Project and they won a couple of games not the event. If you are holding up Skyball as an event where a mismatching team do well then a few years ago Rabid Virus did very well not a single jersey matched nor markers and the team was made up of industry people who decided to have a go for hell it...took out the AA's rather easily and think they finished second Pro overall.

I agree with Skeet, never underestimate another team or player, its common Proffessional practice not to do this. Who wants to "go easy" on a team due to their equipment when that is the team you may lose more of your cred to if you lost cause you were sloppy?
Imagine if you thought a team of girls was gonna be easy and they woop you cause you didn't focus, and treat them as the sportspeople they are! I would rather lose to a top Pro team than a Novice team using tippmans. Thats why you must give your all, in every game.
