That is correct it is used to reinforce the potential dangers involved, and maybe stop idiots making nuisance claims.I'm pretty sure that disclaimers in the UK dont actually mean a lot as I'm sure (no doubt will tell me if I'm wrong) your not actually allowed so sign away your legal rights. Or something like that anyway someone can probably word it better.

I know of a woodland site that got sued because the customer claimed they got a bite from a spider during a game while they was hiding behind a bunker.
And that really is true.
